3 steps to Tri-Clad success

Keep your Tri-Clad Cookware in tip top condition.

If you're new to cooking with hybrid pans like our Tri-Clad range, you might come across a few teething problems as you get to grips with a new way of cooking.

The advanced technology in these pans makes cooking more efficient, which means you can use less oil, less heat and enjoy easier washing up.

Any issues can easily be resolved by following these three easy steps:

  1. Use a little oil

Pre-heat gradually to a low-medium heat before adding your oil (butter, vegetable oil and olive oil are best) so it doesn’t burn. While the ceramic non-stick will do most of the heavy lifting, the raised stainless steel surface just needs a little coating for where it comes into contact with your food.

  1. Always cook on a low-medium heat

If you’re finding that food is sticking, turn the temperature down. The three layers of stainless steel and aluminium in your Tri-Clad pan distribute heat more efficiently, so you only need to cook on a low heat, medium at a maximum. Medium is the new high.

  1. Handwash only

When dinner’s done, treat your Tri-Clad to a warm soapy bubble bath in the sink – don’t put it in the dishwasher – this will help protect its non-stick ceramic coating.

FAQ's:

  1. Why is my food sticking?

If food is sticking, your pan isn't faulty. If you're cooking on a high temperature and burning your food, this will catch. Turn the heat down, make sure you use a little oil to coat the stainless steel surface, allow your food to brown before moving or turning.

  1. Why has my pan stained and how do I remove it?

Stainless steel takes on a brown 'stain' when cooking oil has got too hot. Prevention is better than cure, so cook on a lower temperature than perhaps used to. To remove, make a paste with baking soda and water (or use a specialized cleaner like Bar Keepers Friend) and gently scrub with a soft sponge.

  1. Which cooking oils can I use with my Tri-Clad?

Liquid fats like butter, olive oil, vegetable oil are best - avoid using aerosol spray oils as they can create a sticky build up.

  1. What’s the best way to clean my Tri-Clad pan?

First, leave your pans to cool before washing or rinsing. Wash your Tri-Clad pans in the sink with warm, soapy water, using a non-stick friendly sponge. To preserve their ceramic non-stick coating, it's best not to put them in the dishwasher.
