About the Ipswich StoreOur store is in the Grade 1 listed Ancient House, one of the oldest buildings in Ipswich its ornate frontage is looked after by English Heritage. Originally a merchant's house, the earliest part of the building dates back to the 15th Century and it's said that King Charles II hid from his enemies in the Attic Room after the Battle of Worcester. For a more detailed history of the building, the local Tourist Information group runs tours of the town centre.
Because of the nature of the Ancient House we have many rooms linked by stairs, which unfortunately doesn't make it easy for pushchair and wheelchair access. However, our friendly colleagues are always willing to be of assistance and we're very good at tracking down just what you need.
How to find us & parkingWe're on the famous Buttermarket, a bustling pedestrianised shopping street with bus stops close by on Northgate Street and Upper Brook Street.
There are two inexpensive Park & Ride services on the outskirts of Ipswich town centre. They're situated at the following sites: London Road at the A12-A14 - Central Ipswich and Martlesham Heath - East Ipswich A12 (coming from Lowestoft).
There's also a short stay car park in the Buttermarket Shopping Centre which is very near the back of the store, and is the closest car park for collecting large or heavy purchases.
