Made from thick carbon steel, they’re built to last, and with two Quantum 2 professional non-stick layers, cooked cakes slide out of them smoothly. We’ve removed all rolled edges from our bakeware too, to eliminate the possibility of water traps forming and to make sure our baking tins are dishwasher safe.
The wonder of silicone cake moulds
Traditionally, cake tins are made from tough materials like carbon steel or aluminium. But silicone has changed that. Silicone is a soft, rubberised material that’s excellent for baking in.
Whilst silicone might look too flimsy to hold a good cake or survive the searing temperatures of your oven, trust us, it’s more than capable. Although flexible, silicone is durable and heat resistant – most silicone cake trays can withstand temperatures up to 230°C.
Silicone also offers some big advantages when it comes to cooking. The material transmits heat easily, allowing an even baking of the cake it holds. Once the cake is finished, it can be removed with ease from the mould – often you can simply peel the soft mould back and pop the cake out. Silicone cake moulds are also easy to clean and are microwave friendly too. Honestly, they take a lot of the hassle out of baking.
