You don’t want to scrimp on your kitchen knives. Everyone likes a sharp edge that slices through everything easily, and a sharp, well-balanced kitchen knife makes preparing and serving meals fast, smooth and efficient.
As quality really tells with kitchen knives, we’ve made sure we’ve put together a fantastic range of restaurant-grade knives in our kitchenware range, including our Lakeland Hammered Steel Kitchen Knives.
Pick up a hammered steel knife
Our Hammered Steel Kitchen Knives are made from high-quality German stainless steel. They are razor sharp and will hold that cutting edge well, even after slicing through tough raw meat or the crustiest of loaves. Unlike most other kitchen knives, each of our Hammered Steel Knives were skilfully hammered when they were forged to create a unique dimpled effect on the blade. Yes, they look distinctive, but the dimples also help cutting by preventing food sticking to the knife.
As well as slicing, dicing and chopping to perfection, we wanted our Lakeland Hammered Steel Knives to look beautiful and to be an item you display with pride in your kitchen. Alongside their characteristic hammered blades, each knife in our selection is artfully shaped and features a beautiful carbonised ash wood handle that holds an individual colour and grain pattern.
What is a hammered knife?
Unlike regular commercial kitchen knives, a hammered steel knife is struck repeatedly with a hammer when it’s being forged. This creates a dimpled pattern that, as well as being unique and beautiful, prevents food sticking to the knife’s blade when cutting. Hammering a blade also makes the knife stronger and more durable, meaning it’ll last longer. A good hammered steel knife will keep an edge well and will last you for years and years of continued use.
A range of hammered steel kitchen knives are available at Lakeland
Our Lakeland Hammered Steel Kitchen Knives come in a full set of professional-grade knives.
For delicate cutting jobs, we recommend a Hammered Steel Paring Knife that has a 10cm blade and is ideal for smaller tasks, like peeling and chopping fruit. A Hammered Steel Utility Knife is a little larger and is a versatile blade that can take on most chopping, slicing and dicing jobs in the kitchen. A long-bladed, curved Hammered Steel Carving Knife will make sure you cut cooked meat with precision, while a serrated Hammered Steel Bread Knife is perfectly suited to slicing bread without crushing and squashing it out of shape.
Our Hammered Steel Santoku Knives are versatile chef’s knives based on a Japanese design. They look distinctive and are excellent at chopping, dicing, and mincing. Their curved blade is especially suited to using an efficient rocking action as you cut.
