Wilton's ingenious Square Checkerboard Cake Pan Set lets you serve up incredible multi-layered chequered masterpieces with minimal effort.
Whether you're celebrating a birthday with favourite flavours, a sporting triumph with bright primary colours or a special occasion that calls for subtle sophistication, the combinations are countless, letting you layer up a truly bespoke, checkerboard-style bake.
For a simple two-tone pattern, split your mix, colour and flavour as desired, place the dividing ring in the first pan and fill the inner and outer rings with one colour and the middle ring with the other. Remove the ring using the easy-lift handles, repeat with the second pan then reverse the colour order for the third.
For three colours or flavours, just alternate the placement of the mix in each layer. Stack, decorate, serve… then pick up your cake knife and prepare for the big reveal!
When you've finished baking, the non-stick coating makes the pans easy to clean, while they are also dishwasher safe for added convenience.

"Works well but needs more guidance"

I found this to work pretty well but more guidance would be very helpful. - There's no recipe included. I used this one: bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3028705/rainbow-cake The recipe has you make 3 batches, with each batch intended to make 2 layers. I used 1 batch per layer, and separated each batch into 4 bowls to add the colouring. - Use gel food colouring. Gel is significantly better than liquid, especially green and yellow. The liquid colouring fades a *lot* when baked. - Coat the divider with veg oil before adding cake mix to stop it sticking.

Bought with high expectations. There is no guidance on the size of mix. It is very fiddly to get the mix in the slots due to cross pieces. Stacked as indicated on the tiny instruction leaflet-did not get checkered effect-instructions said to slice lengthways but it is a square pan! There is no lengthways! The bottom and top were just the same colour stripe and the middle was sort of chequered. Not happy with this product thus far.. Bought square pans to overcome sloping sides mentioned with the round pans-might have been better with those as i can see how they could produce chequered effect

The pictures look great. There was no mention of what size sponge mix you should use. So far I have made a 2 egg sponge mix and had to make another quickly. This only made two of the three layers. I would not recommend to buy.

if i could leave 0 or minus i would as this is useless. there is no recipe in the box (just 10 cups of batter - not helpful) and lakeland customer service just suggested a '9 egg sponge mixture', which isn't really much better. until lakeland address this issue and bothers to do an online recipe (like with the wilton layer cake pans that also have usless american recipe instructions included) i wouldn't bother wasting your money on these, which is a shame as they look to be a great idea. im not able to return either as they were a gift so am not amused :-(
