When you’re cooking outdoors it’s not always easy to tell if your cooking surface is hot enough to let you start feeding the hungry hordes you’ve invited round. So Ooni have brought out this Infrared Temperature Gun – a point-and-press, digital thermometer that helps you be certain your pizza oven, pizza stone, barbecue or outdoor grill is up to temperature and ready to go.

How to use it

Simply point the ‘gun’ at the area you wish to check (it must be a non-reflective surface) and press the trigger – the infrared laser helps ensure you’ve aimed correctly – and in just fractions of a second the display will register the temperature. The smaller the area you wish to check, the closer you need to be… it’ll read accurately between 30-150cm away from most surfaces.

• Accurate to plus or minus 2°C when the air around it is above freezing

Requires two AAA batteries.

Important note: the infrared laser must never be aimed at eyes, even via a reflective surface.
