What is spherification?
Spherification is the process of turning liquids and liquidised foods into caviar-style orbs through a chemical reaction, transforming otherwise ordinary dishes into restaurant-worthy works of culinary art. The magic is created when a solution of liquidised food and sodium alginate is added to a water bath containing calcium chloride – once the liquid hits the water bath, a chemical reaction takes place, solidifying the liquid into little pearls with a liquid centre (or longer shapes, depending on your method).

Anyone who has dabbled in molecular gastronomy and, specifically, spherification before will know that it’s a time-consuming, fiddly task that requires absolute precision, and can easily go wrong… until now. The slimline, lightweight Spherificator makes it quick and easy to achieve fast, consistent results, allowing you to make large quantities at the touch of a button – up to 700 pearls a minute – rather than one orb at a time, like with the traditional pipette method. Follow the simple steps in the instruction manual and you can enjoy dish after dish of gourmet excellence, bursting with sophistication and flavour that’s a treat for both the eyes and taste buds alike.
