Lakeland Compressor Ice Cream Maker

Product number: 61790

Move over, Mr Whippy, there’s a new kid in town. Lakeland’s Compressor Ice Cream Maker churns out a litre of fresh, home-made ice cream in just 60 minutes with no pre-freezing required.

No bowls or gels to freeze overnight

With a lot of ice cream makers, you need to freeze a gel pack or bowl overnight before you can make anything, but because this one is fully automatic with a built-in compressor that does the freezing, you only have to wait 60 minutes before you can be tucking into your favourite flavours. And just look at the price – most machines with this facility come with a price tag that’s much, much higher.

Only takes 60 minutes

Simple to use, just set the timer on the LCD display according to the recipe you’re making, then add your chilled ingredients through the opening and the machine will churn them to a creamy consistency in around an hour – a series of beeps lets you know when it’s finished. If you prefer your ice cream a bit harder, or your frozen treats a bit more, well frozen, you can set the timer to churn for up to an hour in 10-minute increments, and it’s capable of producing deliciously fresh gelato, sorbet and frozen yoghurt in under an hour too.

Extended cooling function

If you’re not around when the machine ends its cycle, fear not. To stop your ice cream going into meltdown, after 10 minutes this super-cool machine switches into an extended cooling function, which cools without mixing for up to an hour to keep your ice cream cone-ready. Phew!

Add extra ingredients

A handy measuring cup means you can add extra ingredients during churning – nuts, chopped fruit or chocolate chips, just to give you a few tasty ideas.

Recipes included.

As with all Lakeland electricals, it’s been tested, tested and tested again until we’re confident it’s more than up to the task, is covered by our 3-year guarantee for added reassurance, and is a great price too!

"Brilliant machine"

This is an excellent ice cream maker for the home cook, and very reasonably priced. Have made some lovely ice creams including Seville orange, and maple pecan. Highly recommended. I’d like to buy a second freezing bucket to make it easier to do larger quantities for parties, but these don’t seem to be available. A minor niggle.

"Superb Ice Cream"

Having previously used a 'put the pot in the freezer overnight' ice cream maker, i can safely say this is so much better. Ice cream in 45 - 60 minutes, vanilla ice cream that does not need one to make a custard with all the issues of over cooking it... Made a superb strawberry with our own fruit, can't beat it. A great purchase

"Ice cream maker "

I wanted to let everyone know how fantastic this ice cream maker is. In the first 3 hours of owning it, I had made vanilla ice cream, mixed fruit ice cream and lemon sorbet. Two days later I had a freezer full of delicious ice creams and sorbets, all without any effort. Mango sorbet turns out like the creamiest ice cream but without having to use double cream. Yes I know its a lot of money, but at £3 a cornet, I would rather buy this and know what is in my ice cream. I am so happy with this machine and very glad I made the decision to buy it.

"Not just a gadget!"

After reading up on icecream makers we decided to take the plunge on the Lakeland Ice Cream Maker. We were sure we'd have a go a few times and then add it to the dust shelf, to sit along side the bread maker, soup maker etc. However we were over the moon with our first attempt, within an hour we had delicious ice cream. We made further batches since and all delicious. Yes, there are design faults, yes the blade gets frozen into the ice cream. But the advantages certainly outweigh the disadvantages and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

"Delighted"

This works really well and I've made a number of different ice creams and sorbets in it. It was really worth the extra to have one with a compressor. The only minor quibble is that I don't find it very easy to pour the mix in to the machine, particularly if it is thick. I've now found a funnel which my partner managed to alter the nozzle end to make it a bit more elliptical, so it fits. It would be great to have one designed to fit.
