Lakeland Compressor Ice Cream Maker

Product number: 61790

Move over, Mr Whippy, there’s a new kid in town. Lakeland’s Compressor Ice Cream Maker churns out a litre of fresh, home-made ice cream in just 60 minutes with no pre-freezing required.

Make mine a mint choc chip!

No bowls or gels to freeze overnight

With a lot of ice cream makers, you need to freeze a gel pack or bowl overnight before you can make anything, but because this one is fully automatic with a built-in compressor that does the freezing, you only have to wait 60 minutes before you can be tucking into your favourite flavours. And just look at the price – most machines with this facility come with a price tag that’s much, much higher.

Only takes 60 minutes

Simple to use, just set the timer on the LCD display according to the recipe you’re making, then add your chilled ingredients through the opening and the machine will churn them to a creamy consistency in around an hour – a series of beeps lets you know when it’s finished. If you prefer your ice cream a bit harder, or your frozen treats a bit more, well frozen, you can set the timer to churn for up to an hour in 10-minute increments, and it’s capable of producing deliciously fresh gelato, sorbet and frozen yoghurt in under an hour too.

Extended cooling function

If you’re not around when the machine ends its cycle, fear not. To stop your ice cream going into meltdown, after 10 minutes this super-cool machine switches into an extended cooling function, which cools without mixing for up to an hour to keep your ice cream cone-ready. Phew!

Add extra ingredients

A handy measuring cup means you can add extra ingredients during churning – nuts, chopped fruit or chocolate chips, just to give you a few tasty ideas.

Recipes included.

As with all Lakeland electricals, it’s been tested, tested and tested again until we’re confident it’s more than up to the task, is covered by our 3-year guarantee for added reassurance, and is a great price too!

"I do like this but it could be improved"

star star star star star_border

I agree with other people that the small opening for adding additional ingredients is not in the best place. It can be awkward when the machine is on my worktop to get at as it is too near the back under my kitchen cupboards I had a pre frozen bowl ice cream maker for a few years so have lots of recipes I use and it is nice that I can make a larger quantity now and make two types much quicker than I could before. I wish it had some sort of alarm to let me know that it was ready as the keep cool feature does mean that the paddle can get stuck in the ice cream but I just keep an eye on it.

"Good, but could be better"

I haven't used this type of machine before. The opening for the ingredients is terrible. The instructions are vague. What is "the right consistency" 40-50 minutes later and my paddle is frozen in the ice-cream and I can't get my first batch out! - I had to let it thaw out and start again. Once I got the hang of it, it was fine and the ice-cream was very good. Adding additional flavours like nuts / choclate chips etc will be a challenge. However, I think it will be well used this summer. Rating 4 stars due to the poor opening for ingredients and poor instructions manual.

Thank you for your review. We're pleased the ice-cream you made was really good! It can be a little trial and error at first making home-made ice cream however we'll be sure to pass your feedback along to our Buyers.

"Really Cool ❄️ Ice cream maker"

Lovely looking machine. You’ve got to love your homemade ice cream as this will set you back 45 tubs of Ben&Jerrys. the recipes work - (make custard add flavours) it’s super easy. And really fun to think of new flavours. Two niggles. One is the pathetic “Refill lid” is tiny. Fundamentally useless. Better to fill the removable bowl with the blade in place or wiggle your blade into position. The mixture should be thick enough to hold into place, as you put top on. Secondly- the blade gets frozen into the ice cream. Best remove blade after mixing phase. Otherwise it’s a real hassle.

"A gem"

Having struggled for years with a pre-freeze bowl type, finally splashed put on this machine, confident in Lakeland’s guarantee. So simple, easy to use and clean. As another reviewer said, being able to get another mixing tub for it would be ideal - would let me make batches when needed. Any chance, Lakeland?

"Smooth homemade delicious vanilla ice cream"

star star star star star

We unpacked it yesterday and made the first recipe in the instruction booklet which is vanilla ice cream. Nothing beats homemade ice cream made with lovely ingredients. I would like to know if I can make pistachio ice cream (my favorite), strawberry and other flavours please. The recipes included are ones that require no preparation of ingredients and ones that require no eggs. I checked at lakeland and can't see any recipes attached with this ice cream maker. There are variations with the recipes included but no strawberry or pistachio ones still. Many thanks in anticipation of your reply.

Thank you for your review. We're pleased to hear how much you enjoyed using your ice cream maker. You'll certainly be able to make other flavours which may take a little trial and error but the recipes included will service as a guide.
