Sage The Smart Oven Pizzaiolo SPZ820BSS

Product number: 61771

Are you a serious pizza fan? Love the classic wood-fired, ‘leopard-spotted’, char-based Neapolitan? Then you need the Sage Pizzaiolo. This fantastic piece of kit is the first domestic countertop oven to hit a staggering 400°C, so you can be enjoying delicious crispy pizza in just 2 minutes. Mamma mia!

A brick pizza oven for your kitchen – well, almost

Brick ovens deliver three types of heat – conductive, radiant and convective – to create the ideal environment for pizzas, but being large and slow-to-heat, they’re not always practical. With Sage’s Pizzaiolo, there’s no need to build a huge brick pizza oven in your garden to get amazing pizza – this game-changing electric countertop oven replicates brick-oven heat for cooking ‘wood-fired’ style pizza at home in your own kitchen. Developed over 4 years, it reaches a scorchingly high temperature of 400°C and features intelligent heat distribution, so it perfectly cooks every type of pizza from frozen shop-bought to home-made.

Element iQ System

The Pizzaiolo features Sage’s Element iQ System for intelligent heat distribution, which delivers three types of heat – conductive, radiant and convective – to ensures that your pizza is cooked in the ideal environment for the perfect result. This clever system, along with its built-in sensors, delivers just the right amount of heat to the pizza, so each part of the pizza is cooked to perfection. Not sure what that means? It’s simple: the radiant heat cooks your pizza evenly and gives a ‘leopard-spotted’ crust; the conductive heat cooks the pizza base evenly while controlling the amount of flavourful char on the base; and the convective heat protects your toppings from the powerful heat to ensure they’re baked without burning. Is your mouth watering yet?

Cook how you want

It’s easy to cook the type of pizza you want, thanks to the Style dial – this allows you to choose from the 7 pre-set options, including ‘Wood Fired’, New York, Pan, Thin & Crispy, and Frozen, as well as two manual heat settings, 160°C and 400°C. It’s ideal for anyone who loves making their own pizzas and toppings, but it can also cook shop-bought pizzas too, thanks to the Frozen setting, and you can use the variety of settings to cook other food such as flat bread, veg and much more. You can also set the countdown timer to adjust the cooking time for your pizza, and choose the colour of your pizza crust with the Darkness dial.

Attractive design

This smart and sleek stainless steel machine looks just like a normal countertop oven and takes up a lot less room than a proper brick oven. It features a deck-to-door design, with a cooking platform that moves the pizza closer to the elements when you close the door, and moves the pizza back towards you when you open it, making it easy to load and unload. And you can watch the progress of your pizza through the viewing window too. Simply plug it in, select your setting and wait for your delicious, crispy pizza.

"Cooks amazing gluten free pizza"

star star star star star

We are a family of six and we have four teenagers, inc coeliacs. It is difficult to buy good gluten free pizzas. Our teenagers love pizza nights and we have an Ooni Karu for outside cooking and perfected a great gluten free pizza dough. We have been debating purchasing the Sage Pizzaiolo for about a year and we are so glad we did as it is amazing!. Cooking only gluten free pizzas we were not expecting the pizza to come out exactly like one cooked in a wood oven, in less than 2 minutes and it doesn't need turning, dare I say it even better than one cooked in the Ooni.

I have had this 7 months now and my Neapolitan pizzas are great, I get the leopard spotting, they are so soft and crunchy, so much better than takeaways. The oven fits a 12inch pizza and after about 20 minutes the oven is warmed up to max temperature and my pizzas cook in about 2 - 3 minutes. I did purchase a 12 inch wooden peel that fits the oven perfectly because the metal peel was too sticky when trying to launch pizza into the oven The metal peel is great for retrieving the cooked pizza.

"Amazing Simply Amazing"

Anyone that is saying that this machine leaves you with Soggy Pizza obviously does not know how to work this machine properly. I have made fresh doughs and been amazed with the results, better than restaurant quality.

"Ignore the bafflingly positive reviews"

star star star_border star_border star_border

The internal dimensions are only sufficient for quite a small pizza and it is very fiddly to slide a pizza in, as the way the oven door opens means you have to do so at an angle. It's also a nightmare to clean. The funny thing is that the manufacturer's pictures of finished pizzas are really pretty accurate, as they show well-browned bases and appealingly charred crusts with pizza toppings that look decidedly uncooked. So, if you want a large and expensive single-use item that delivers sloppy pizzas with nicely cooked bases, then the Pizzaiolo very much for you.

"Not just for pizza"

star star star star star

I had my doubts spending so much money on a oven just for pizza but after having it for about 4 months I have to say I’m delighted with the results. The various pizza settings have all worked perfectly, the only one I have not used is for frozen pizza. However the real surprise came when I started to play with the manual settings. Roast veg are fantastic cooked at 320C and if you like your steak rare on the inside but slightly caramelised on the outside then this oven is perfect but be warned there will be smoke so ventilation is required. Overall I’m happy I invested in the Sage Pizzaiolo.
