"Most useful"
I had one years ago, but wall mounted. This crusher is invaluable, especially if I miss the recycling collection. which is every two weeks. Crushed, even 4 weeks worth will fit into the bag provided by the council. Highly recommended!

Eddingtons Heavy-Duty Can Crusher
Product number: 46287
Show your support for the environment... by using your feet! If your recycling bags or boxes are always filled to more than overflowing by the time the council collection lorry makes it down your street, Eddingtons’ Heavy-Duty Can Crusher can help. It turns bulky food cans and plastic bottles into a shadow of their former selves, so you can fit even more in your recycling.
Strongly made from steel, it’s designed to crush food cans – even tough steel ones – with the least possible amount of pressure, and will make light work of flattening plastic bottles too – all the way up to the big 2 litre pop bottles. Just place it on the floor, unhook the side to release the top ‘arm’, slip in your tin or bottle, and press down on the little footplate to turn out recycling-ready waste.
Two padded strips on the base protect your kitchen or utility room floor, but it’s tough enough to be used outside next to your recycling bins too if you want.

This is absolutely wonderful for this job, with a few little tweaks and tips however! I find that you need to screw the screw in tightly, then loosen a little to get the optimum height to capture the cans, a bit of trial and error here works, so save up a few cans to crush! Cans are more successfully crushed if you put the BASE of the can furthest away from you. My only negative, is I wish the edges at the back of the unit were padded too as I think over time it'll take the paint off my skirting board!
I bought this for the same reason as everyone else, to try and reduce the size of my recycling. It took a bit of time to work out how to use it but once you've got the knack it's brilliant. You must screw down the pin to hold the cans in place and put the base end of the tin into the front with the open top of the tin facing you, then it crushes them with ease.
This review was written by a Lakeland colleague who purchased the product for their own personal use.
I love my can crusher, it flattens most heavy duty cans, dog food, soup cans etc. Beer cans are a doddle, it helps fit more cans in the recycling bin. I did try a wall mounted one but it just didn't do the trick like this one.
I bought the can crusher as I go through a lot of regular sized dog food cans. It promises to crush toughest of all household tin cans. I guess it depends on what they mean as it is hopeless for the Tesco Senior dog food cans. A terrible fiddle as they slip out (even when fiddling with the screw thing that it supposed to keep the cans in place) and only partially crush near the open lip and not the base. It may take the incredible hulk of leg action possibly, but then I see the possibility of breaking the joint. I did successfully crush a small can of baked beans flat! A waste of money.
We're sorry that this didn't crush the cans you wanted it to and we're glad we were able to help you with a refund for this.
