Taking its name from the Italian for half-moon, a little rock ‘n’ roll is all that’s needed with the Mezzaluna herb chopper from Joseph Joseph.
A traditional utensil for chopping herbs, the sharp stainless steel blade cuts easily through herbs or garlic. However Joseph Joseph have added their own designer twists, including pivoting handles that fold down as a blade guard and for safe storage.

I bought this to be able to fine chop herbs form the garden more quickly and effectively. This definitely does the job. Easy to use, although it is a very different action to chopping with a knife. The handles are very effective blade guards when the item is not in use, and they need to be, because the blade is extremely sharp!
This is a fantastic gadget but in my opinion has a design fault.The handles close in quite easily and when washing it up folds in with the risk of cutting you.A locking handle would be a good idea.Apart from that it is a great product and does a good job.Beware!!

Chops with little effort required and is safe to store with the folding handles.
I agree with previous reviews that this design is an excellent idea, the blade is very sharp but there should be a means of fixing the handles in place when the blade is exposed. Having picked it up from my draining board and it swung round and sliced my finger I have returned it. I have a keen young cook in my kitchen who is very capable of using sharp knives but this design is too risky. I expected better of Joseph Joseph. Lakeland dealt with the issue well and supplied and alternative with a fixed blade. However, I am still waiting for the promised jiffy bag in which to return the item.
