"Pleasantly surprised at how good this is"

star star star star star

I bought this in addition to a Panasonic that I have which didn’t have just a dough program I wanted for sourdough. I thought I would only use it for this purpose. I baked a loaf not sourdough in here and wow it was amazing! The bread is so much lighter than my all singing and dancing Panasonic and the shape is better too. So much to say I have given my Panasonic away to a friend! If there is any little niggle is that is is a little noisy but I can get past that the bread is great so very happy with my purchase and would recommend

"First ever breadmaker & I love it"

Good, clear instruction booklet with helpful info and recipes to get started. Went off piste with first go & made a sticky gingerbread from another recipe booklet - turned out beautifully - light yet moist and perfectly cooked. Now on sundried tomato bread - not baked yet but smelling so delicious and rise looks good. Going to work my way through the recipe book & looking forward to having homebaked bread, cakes, jams and yoghurts. Cannot compare to other bread makers but would definitely recommend as a first bread maker - reasonably priced, well constructed & easy to clean.

"Difficulty in making a satisfactory loaf."

I have used nearly two packs of high gluten wholemeal flour with varying amounts of white high gluten four. Following the instructions in the book that came with the machine. The first few 500g loaves rose to the top of the pan and were so light that you could not spread butter on the slices. The new recipe book with 100% wholemeal bread came out like a brick. I have tried varying the proportions of the flours but find that the crusts are very hard and the centre is soggy and seems only partially baked. When toasted the crusts burn before the centre has browned. Very disappointed.

Thanks for your feedback. We suggest using more liquid and it may be that the dark crust setting has been selected.

"First bread maker"

I don’t have much to compare with, as I am new to baking. The same ingredients for a wholemeal loaf. if I bake in the oven, get a reasonable rise, but don’t in the bread maker. I don’t understand why. A 500 g white loaf has a dent in it from the seed dispenser, I don’t understand how you can make a 1000 g loaf in this machine. A colleague who’s been making bread for over 20 years only uses his breadmaker for mixing, I think I understand why now. The recipe book is in USA cups rather than grams and huge amounts of sugar which I find rather disappointing.

"A couple of niggles"

I am not tall, so my worktops are built lower than standard kitchens, but I find it impossible to read the flat display without tilting the machine forward - all previous machines I have used had angled displays. The other issue (if I wanted to use the dispenser) I simply cannot find a way to open it as illustrated in the booklet. The hinged metal side drops when required but I cannot work out how to open the other side to fill it. With over 30yrs experience I 'm confident to use my own recipe for pizza dough and bread but the recipes given in the book have extreme amounts of sugar and salt
