"Great but pie size a little small" star star star star star_border I've just purchased this to make mince pies and was initially dismayed at the size of the pies. (Mind you I usually use a muffin tin!) I made a batch and they were so quick and easy. 6 done in 15 minutes, quick to remove and minimal washing up. Personally I'd reduce or remove the crimped section and make the pie space slightly wider as although the crimp makes the pies look bigger the edges tend to burn. I also found the lids needed to be a little thicker to brown properly. I was going to return but they were so easy, I may try mini cherry bakewells next.
"Pritty good if an 86 male with can make crispy mince pies." star star star star star_border Just made my first six mince pies. Only gave four stars as instruction said to make pastry a quarter of an inch thick. I make my own pastry and made it a lot thinner resulting in six crispy mince pies, almost perfect. My cutters were just a shade too large but you have to go with what you have. Not bad for an 86 year young man with a shaky right hand. Only have one concern, moisture seeped out during the cooking and some was at the back where one can see an electric cable. Had to use a tissue to dry that area. However i would definitely recommend this product at this price it's a bargain.
"Pie Maker" star star star star star_border Brilliant machine just a shame it doesn't have the correct size pastry cutters included
"Needs practice" star star star star star_border Ok so ….I’m not a newbie to pie makers. I’ve got a two pie machine for making meat pies. I followed the instructions to the letter. This is what I found The cutter sizes recommended are too small, go bigger it will seal the edges better and the filling is less likely to leak The cooking was erratic the pies cooked at different rates…some were really brown and a couple were brown round the edge and uncooked in the centre top… don’t know why yet. Also, the instructions says put the pastry and filling in first then turn it on. This contrary to every other instructions on various pie makers.
"Disappointed" star star star star_border star_border The image shown does not give a true idea of the size of the pies. That said I should probably checked the dimensions before buying. Once you have lined the bottom with pastry it leaves very little room for contents. Only about a small spoonful of meat. Meat needs to be cut extremely small! I only have a small appetite but had to have 2 pies. Don't know how anyone with larger appetite would be satisfied. It would have been better if pie maker was designed for 4 pies enabling size of pies to be bigger.
