Beautiful to look at with its stripy cedarwood outer, it has bamboo slats inside each layer to let the steam through to cook your carefully prepared meal, and a bamboo lid to help keep the heat inside until everything's ready.
Having two tiers, it allows you to cook different types of ingredients at the same time - perhaps two different types of dumpling, or fish in one basket and vegetables in the other. Bamboo is the traditional material used for this type of cooking, absorbing the moisture and controlling the humidity in the steamer to prevent your food going soggy, leaving your food perfectly steamed.
