Lakeland Precision Nakiri Knife 18cm Blade

Product number: 27084

It might look like a meat cleaver, with its straight, symmetrical edge and thin, wide blade, but a nakiri knife is traditionally used to precisely and finely slice, dice and chop vegetables and herbs. Rather than a rocking motion, a nakiri blade encourages an up and down cutting technique, while the scalloped indents prevent food sticking to help speed up chopping.

Japanese steel

Crafted from high-quality Japanese steel, this versatile knife is full tang for strength and balance, has a full bolster for safety, and features a triple-riveted pakka wood handle for comfort and durability.

Pakka wood handle

Pakka wood is a tough resin and wood composite that’s resistant to heat and moisture, making it the ideal material for knife handles in busy family kitchens.

"Versatile. Cannot stop using this knife."

star star star star star

I was unsure when I saw the end of the knife being flat. Yet, in the short time I have been using this knife I have used it to slice many items, including, bread/ raw and cooked meats, vegetables. This knife slices with ease most things. The unusual end gives the knife good control when slicing vegetables and I would expect it to be ideal for chopping herbs. I was given this item but even at £40 it’s very good value. If I was to rate a global knife 9 out of 10 I would definitely give this item somewhere very close, maybe 8.5. Overall I’m impressed !

"Actually pretty good! Very sharp straight out of the box."

I spent a while looking for info about what to look for in a new, reasonably priced knife, and I've used that to judge this knife by. First off, straight out of the box I did the "till receipt test" where you hold up a till receipt and slice through it, to test the sharpness. It sailed through that and easily cut the the extremely thin paper with ease (unless you're a professional sushi chef, that's as sharp as you're going to need!)
