Lakeland Cast Aluminium Shallow Casserole 4 Litre

Product number: 26534

If you like to batch-cook stews or curries or need a pot big enough to feed a crowd from, we think you’re going to like this non-stick 4 Litre Casserole. Combining good looks with impressive performance, while it may look like a traditional cast iron pan, it’s actually made from lightweight cast aluminium to make it comfortable to handle when you’re moving from hob to oven to table. But it also has a few other tricks up its sleeve.

Self-basting lid

The interior of the lid is coated with non-stick, but what makes it special are the raised bumps that encourage any steam to condense and drip back into the pan, basting your food to keep all the delicious juices and flavours inside, so it’s just the ticket for long, slow-cooked meals. And the smart, polished stainless steel knob on the top makes a lovely finishing touch to this oven-to-table cooking pot.

Fast-heating induction base

While the pan is made from high-quality cast aluminium that heats up quickly and evenly for fast and efficient cooking, the base is stainless steel, making this casserole suitable for any style of hob, including induction, and ideal for recipes that need to start off on the hob.

Easy to clean

Thanks to the impressive double layer of non-stick, you’ll find cleaning the pan is easy – a quick hand wash will bring it up gleaming, but it can go in the dishwasher too.

About the Lakeland Cast Aluminium range

Cast iron pots and pans look great, but you often need the arms of a weightlifter to pick them up. Our looks-like-cast-iron range is made from lightweight cast aluminium so it’s much easier to handle, but it doesn’t compromise on looks or performance. Finished in smart grey that will work in any kitchen, each piece is coated with a double layer of non-stick. The casseroles have self-basting lids, which ensure your food stays moist, even during long, slow cooking, and the whole range is oven safe up to 180°C and attractive enough to go from oven or hob (including induction) to your table for serving up.

BPA and PFOA-free.

"Love but there’s an issue"

This review is for an older version of this product

Love this pan, it’s so useful, BUT every time I take it out of the dishwasher and dry it, I have black dye on my t-towel, and firstly wonder is this going into my food, and secondly what is it? I’ve spoken to customer services, and they’re very sweet, but have been unable to really help me other than offer a refund. Which was also problematic as I paid cash, and hadn’t kept the receipt. I’m more interested in finding out of the black residue is going into my food.

support_agent A note from the team

We have received feedback from the supplier: When a cast aluminium item is made, we use a different type of alloy compared to a pressed/ forged aluminium item. This alloy makes it easier to pour the liquid aluminium in the mold & fills up all of the crevices even better. The downside however is that this alloy is not very resistant to cleaning products & compositions often used in the dishwasher. What happens is that the base of this item, which is the only part of the item that is uncoated, reacts with the dishwasher fluids & erodes a little bit. This gives off ‘black’ dye. This is actually the aluminium that wears off just a tiny little bit. However; this is not harmful & should ‘stop’ happening after a certain amount of time. If you really don’t like this dye from developing, we suggest to wash these cast aluminium items by hand. Not only will this prolong the life-expectancy of this item, it should also stop the development of black dye on the bottom of the product. However we're very sorry to hear this and if you bought it from one of our stores, then you can simply return it and they will be happy to help you. Please don’t forget to take your proof of purchase.

"Excellent"

I love this pot! I use it for just about everything and have little need for all my other saucepans. Goes from hob to oven and then to table. Lightweight and easy to clean. I bought one for a friend and she loves it too. Now her friend wants one! Yes, the handles and lid handle get hot but I just use oven gloves and problem solved.

"Highly recommend"

Yes, the handles get hot but once you know this you use gloves. Otherwise an excellent product. I even take it to the table. I’m about to buy another one as a gift for a young friend.

"Fabulous"

Wouldn't normally spend this amount but you get what you pay for I'm absolutely delighted with pot it's my family new best friend. We eat chicken and son loves my cooking now! Chicken doesn't dry out the lid is excellent design. I had an old pot and seriously thought my cooking was bad but no it was the hideous old pot!! Definitely recommend!!

"Good but flawed"

star star star star_border star_border

I bought this when they first came out as it is a lightweight casserole which can be used on the hob before transferring to the oven. I love this aspect but my casseroles dry out quickly unless I place a piece of foil under the lid - feel it needs a seal to allow the dimpled lid to do its work properly.so don't use it as much as I would
