Lakeland Jam Making Preserving Thermometer
Product number: 26466
Runny preserves got you in a pickle? If you’ve ever had a panful of strawberries that have refused to set, and ended up looking more like juice than jam, you’ll appreciate just how important it is to have a reliable preserving thermometer.
Why won’t my jam set?
Good question! When you’re making jam or marmalade, getting the right temperature – or setting point – is essential, and the easiest way to test for it is to have a thermometer clipped onto your pan, with the end dipped into the mixture. Your mix needs to be boiled at 105°C to make sure your jam will set, and this accurate sugar thermometer is the easiest, safest way to be certain it’s just right.
Celsius or Fahrenheit?
Whichever one you work with, this sturdy thermometer has you covered. There’s a hook on the back so it can hang conveniently on the side of your pan, meaning there’s nothing to dip in and out of a sticky, sugary mix; there’s a really clear and easy-to-read gauge in both Celsius and Fahrenheit, and there’s a handy marking for the ‘jam’ setting point, so there’s absolutely no guesswork.
For toffee and caramel too
Designed for confectioners as well as seasoned preservers, this hard-wearing sugar thermometer will ensure sweet success if you’re creating notoriously tricky treats, such as toffees, candies and caramels, and is dishwasher safe too, so it’s really easy to wash away all traces of the sticky stuff.
With insulated handle.
