"at last, I can hear this"
Have tried various 'loud' timers without success. This is not loud but the sound is a very penetrating sort of squeak - hurrah

Salter Loud Electronic Timer with Three Volume Settings 355 BKXCDU
Product number: 26362
We’ve all done it – wandered out of the kitchen and not heard the timer go off, only to return to the cooker ten minutes after time was up and find that your rice has boiled dry or your sponge cake is beyond edible and firmly baked onto the tin… With an extra-loud beep (hurrah!) to alert you that time’s up, Salter’s Loud Electronic Timer will help prevent any more over-cooked dinner disasters.]
Loud beep with three volume settings
Once dinner’s in the oven it’s all too easy to get distracted by other things; you nip upstairs to put something away, find yourself absorbed in a TV programme, or the washing machine’s so loud you can’t hear anything else over it. So the solution-finding folk at Salter made their loud timer with not just one, but three volume settings, including one that’s really loud, so can be sure you’ll hear the beeps even if you’re in another room when they sound.
Extra-long countdown time
As well as counting down, this helpful kitchen timer also has a count up stopwatch option – right up to an incredible 19 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds for either way; after all, it’s often the slow-cooked in-the-oven-for-hours meals that are easiest to lose track of.][{Easy-read digital display}][In addition to having a big stop/start button, the large digital screen is really clear and easy to read, and setting the times and volume is straightforward too.
Magnetic or freestanding
With integrated magnets at the back, you can choose to pop the timer on the fridge so it’s right at eye-level, or it can be used self-standing on a flat surface, whatever’s most convenient for you.

Have tried various 'loud' timers without success. This is not loud but the sound is a very penetrating sort of squeak - hurrah
Clear easy to see and use, yes it sounds like an alarm going off but at least it can be heard anywhere in the house, very hard to find a timer that does not use cell batteries this one uses AA batteries so easy to get replacments.
This kitchen timer is so easy to use and being magnetic I keep on my fridge door. Have only given it 4 stars because my husband who wears an hearing aid finds it uncomfortable when it bleeps. I think this is just a personal thing as I do not have the same problem. I can hear it when I am in the garden etc and I have it on the lowest volume. Would recommend.
This timer is easy to use. It has large , clear figures. The lowest volume setting is loud enough to be heard from outside of the room, even above other sounds in a busy house.
The principal of this timer is fine. But The fire alarm sound (even on lowest volume) is incredibly high pitched (high pitch is not useful for those with hearing impairments). Everyone hears thinks it’s the fire alarm gone off. It would drive me crazy long term. The free standing option is merely the fact that the box design is fat enough to rest on a counter. The display is not easy to read at counter height. I had to lay it flat on its back but even then it’s not so easy to see. No backlight to the digits. I was expecting a feature to allow it to stand at 45degrees. I’m returning mine.
We’re very sorry to hear it didn't meet your expectations, if you bought it from one of our stores, then you can simply return it and they will be happy to help you. Please don’t forget to take your proof of purchase.”
