Muslin Squares 45cm.

I wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing. I was told at the till (Norwich store) to wash before using, which I did. After washing the edges were really badly frayed and there were lots of loose threads. I have used one once to strain yoghurt but I have since gone back to using baby muslins which are hemmed and do the same job. It's disappointing as I thought buying a proper product would be better. I wouldn't recommend these.

Marmalade season has come and gone again and so have our “consumable making requirements”.It is good to know that Lakeland can supply these large packs of Muslin squares at a good price and probably deliver them the next day. It saves trying to reuse a square that has passed its practical life and saves the need to fish-out unwanted bits from the finished product.

I consider these as a single use product - no wash, no fuss, no fraying and cheap enough for single use. I use these to strain home made jellies and marmalade and also for squeezing the water out of grated and salted potato before frying potato rostis.

Good to use once however when I come to hand wash them the edges fray terribly and I’m now picking bits of thread out of my second batch of marm. So I’d say these aren’t reusable.

I bought this product a year ago, but have only just used it to make my marmalade this year. When I took one of the pieces out of the bag it immediately shed lots of tiny fabric particles onto the worktop. I tried to keep the edges out of the marmalade area but in the end I had to resort to using an old cloth so that my marmalade did not contain fabric particles. The Squares really need a hem on them.
