Stainless Steel Food Mill

Product number: 18386

There’s something very satisfying about puréeing your own velvety sauces, passata, soups or baby food with a food mill. Designed to give you the best possible results with the minimum effort, this Stainless Steel Food Mill is ideal for perfectly smooth results with just the turn of a handle.

With a hook to help it sit over a pan or bowl, this food mill has three easy-to-change discs – fine, medium and coarse. The handle is simple to click on and off, and turns with a smooth action for effortless milling and lump-free results – we found it produced the most incredibly smooth mashed potato too.

With easily detachable discs and handle, not only is it easy to get the results you’re looking for, it is also super easy to clean when you’ve finished cooking.

"Food Mill"

Worst kitchen product I have ever wasted my money on. Very hard if not impossible to put together and use. In the bin.

support_agent A note from the team

We're sorry your found this difficult to use. We'd advise to push down the central column / handle and twist to unlock, then you can change the coarseness of the mill plates. You then push down and twist the central handle back into place. In future, please do keep hold of your items as they’re covered by a three year guarantee.

"Disappointing"

star star star star_border star_border

I bought this as I make a lot of jams and chutneys and needed to remove seeds to make Seedless jam. I have previously used a sieve and wooden spoon. I used the correct sieve with the Mill but it didn't remove the seeds from the Raspberries. A lot of effort for no return. I also found it moved around when in use so it would be helpful if the bowl grip looping over the bowl was not stainless steel but made to grip and not to slide.

"Excellent but ..."

Excellent. I am glad however that I looked at these reviews first to find out how to dissemble the item in its original packing. When you start to mill, the food does get chased round the bowl, but I just stopped, and pushed it down with a spoon; after a couple of times, it milled the rest easily. You do need to remove puree from the bottom of the mill occasionally; otherwise it stops the new food going through. Come on, Lakeland, start putting advice on your website for novices like me!

"So easy to use"

star star star star star

I bought this to replace my previous one (not from Lakeland) which broke after only one year. It is a much better design and sturdier than the other one. I have been using it to make tomato sauce and I wish I had bought this one before - it is so much easier to use and gives a much better result. I can't fault it.

"Slips a lot until you find the right pan"

Instructions here to release the handle and blade are helpful. Thank you. It took time to notice that the bar goes into little slots on the side though. The discs look as if they are upside down when inserted correctly with the bumps sitting in little niches. I thought this pricey for what it promised but went for it as the OXO good grips one was far more expensive. I found the hook opposite the handle useless but found a pan which enabled me to hold the mill and saucepan handles together. Then I processed kg of blackberries quickly and easily. A great bit of kit. Gnocchi here I come!
