This review is for an older version of this product
I am very happy with this product. All of my cups are the same thickness. I use mine on a cookie sheet in the oven or sometimes on the rack in my little air oven. I do line mine with paper still, but that's because it's such a habit, I have cute papers and I really, really hate doing the washing up (no dishwasher). The paper comes out well. The best thing is that they are SO EASY TO STORE! They take up so much less room than a muffin pan and make no noise when you get them out ;)
On the plus side, my young daughter loved these cute little cup cases so much that she makes fairy cakes much more frequently now. The downside, apart from the recurring mess in my kitchen, is that the cakes do not come out very easily. You have to turn them inside out to get the cake out and then all the sprinkles fall off everywhere. I like the fact that they are reuseable and don't leak grease onto the baking tray.
These did not perform any better than the silicone muffin trays also purchased. My cakes all stuck to these. I have tried under cooking, over cooking, greasing and not greasing - all with the same results - half the cake was stuck with the exception of over cooking where the cakes came out easily. I will be reverting back to traditional tins a paper cases as soon as possible.
Thanks for the review and taking the time to speak to me on the phone. I'm sorry that you'd been disappointed with the silicone cupcake cases I'm glad I was able to help.
The cases do not free themselves well from my Victoria sandwich mix I use for cupcakes, and even chocolate krispies left stuff attached. They are a pain in the dishwasher so need hand washing and drying.
