I'm quite happy to switch off the toaster at the plug and jab a knife into the toast to pull it out. But these tongs do the job a lot better and are great for getting buns or crumblier things out in one piece. They are also cheap, which is good, as the last pair got dropped in the bin when being used for litter picking (not by me).
