Lakeland EvenSlice Bread Slicer

Product number: 13173

Do you struggle when cutting bread? Uneven wedges will be a memory, thanks to the simplest slicing guide around… our EvenSlice Bread Slicer.

It’s a product that we’ve loved for a long time – and a boon for bakers who enjoy making their own bread – with a non-slip base so it won’t try to get away from you as you cut slice after slice. With one of these on hand you'll be able to please even the fussiest sandwich-lover, no matter what type of bread they prefer their butties to be made from, and it’s ideal for precision cutting of bagels, burger buns and oven-bottom muffins too.

Variable thickness grades

A simple, double-sided ‘thickness plate’ lets you adjust the depth of your slice – one side is completely flat and the other is raised to make a thinner slice – spiked both sides it will gently hold the slice in place as you cut. Just set your chosen depth, put your loaf in place and rest your bread knife flat against the stainless steel knife guide runners, then follow them down as you cut each neat, uniform slice. There are three slots to slide the plate into that adjust the slicing depth from approx. 3mm (ideal for scandi-style open rye bread sandwiches) to around 12mm, and if you remove the plate entirely, your slice can be a super-thick 18mm ‘doorstep’.

Easy to clean

Easy-clean, with a built-in crumb catcher to keep worktop mess to a minimum, just follow the directions on the box to dismantle it for a thorough cleaning.

Folds for compact storage.

For best results, please allow fresh-baked bread to cool before slicing, and use a traditional bread knife with a serrated blade.

Maximum width of loaf; 12cm (4¾" ).

Please note; the base of the EvenSlice is made from durable polypropylene that will never dent or chip a knife blade, but it can suffer if you are too aggressive when cutting through the last few millimetres of your slice.

"Disappointing"

star star star_border star_border star_border

Difficult to use. Base slips when using and have to prop it against something to keep it in place. Basically all round difficult to use. Not what expected of Lakeland product.

We’re sorry you found this difficult to use.

"Poor quality product"

Very disappointed with this product. Not up to expected usual high “Lakeland standard”. We have a bread maker and loaf does not fit. You have to be careful to keep your fingers out the way when reaching end of a loaf. Easy for cutting knife to slip as no guide to keep it in place other than pressure you exert to lie the blade against the rail. As others have said the plastic at the bottom will easily get marked by the blade. Won’t be using it. Just a waste of money.

There are stainless steel knife guide runners to rest your knife against to help with the cutting. Please be assured this is covered by our 3 year guarantee.

"Love it!"

Good points - variable thicknesses of slice. Very easy to set up and fold away. Easy to clean. Simple, non-electric (so free to use!). Not so good - apparently it's a bit narrow for some loaves but I don't use a bread maker. I do make bigger free form round loaves though and would probably have to cut in half before slicing. A standard loaf in a 1 litre tin fits just fine. Also as others have said, cuts are appearing where the knife hits the plastic at the end of the operation.

"No suction"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

I’ve tried using this on several loaves of homemade bread and trying to cut it with an electric knife but it doesn’t stop moving around. I’ve stopped using it has I’m afraid it will spin and cause an injury to myself.

We're sorry this proved unsuitable.

"Too small"

star star star star star_border

I have a popular breadmaker and bought the EvenSlice to slice the bread up. It does slice well but could be an extra inch wider and higher to be perfect. When the knife gets to the base of the cutter it is cutting the plastic plate. These minute pieces of plastic, chipped by the knife, are possible ending up in the bread. It would be better if this was wood or some other sturdier material.
