Lakeland EvenSlice Bread Slicer

Product number: 13173

Do you struggle when cutting bread? Uneven wedges will be a memory, thanks to the simplest slicing guide around… our EvenSlice Bread Slicer.

It’s a product that we’ve loved for a long time – and a boon for bakers who enjoy making their own bread – with a non-slip base so it won’t try to get away from you as you cut slice after slice. With one of these on hand you'll be able to please even the fussiest sandwich-lover, no matter what type of bread they prefer their butties to be made from, and it’s ideal for precision cutting of bagels, burger buns and oven-bottom muffins too.

Variable thickness grades

A simple, double-sided ‘thickness plate’ lets you adjust the depth of your slice – one side is completely flat and the other is raised to make a thinner slice – spiked both sides it will gently hold the slice in place as you cut. Just set your chosen depth, put your loaf in place and rest your bread knife flat against the stainless steel knife guide runners, then follow them down as you cut each neat, uniform slice. There are three slots to slide the plate into that adjust the slicing depth from approx. 3mm (ideal for scandi-style open rye bread sandwiches) to around 12mm, and if you remove the plate entirely, your slice can be a super-thick 18mm ‘doorstep’.

Easy to clean

Easy-clean, with a built-in crumb catcher to keep worktop mess to a minimum, just follow the directions on the box to dismantle it for a thorough cleaning.

Folds for compact storage.

For best results, please allow fresh-baked bread to cool before slicing, and use a traditional bread knife with a serrated blade.

Maximum width of loaf; 12cm (4¾" ).

Please note; the base of the EvenSlice is made from durable polypropylene that will never dent or chip a knife blade, but it can suffer if you are too aggressive when cutting through the last few millimetres of your slice.

"Good, but no spares!"

This is a great bread slicer and has allowed the even slicing of fresh bread for many years. Unfortunately regular use has taken its toll on the propylene cutting base and it finally gave up the ghost and split. No worries I thought Lakeland can provide a replacement part, but sadly no. In times when we are being asked to repair and not replace I'm disappointed that Lakeland can't hold a stock of replacement cutting bases. The only option is to cut up something to replace it as I'm not throwing a perfectly good slicer into a recycling bin for want of a small piece of plastic.

"Oh dear!"

Unfortunately I have to admit this is the first item I have been disappointed with from Lakeland. I have tried newly baked bread, and day old bread to try and get even slices but to no avail. I was tempted by the no height restriction, but having wedged the slicer between boards to stop any movement I was still unable to get even slices, there perhaps could be some sort of guide to keep the knife between(?) to stop coming away from the cutting edge - it was slightly better if you cut at a slight angle with the knife - but wedges and crumbs often resulted!

We’re very sorry to hear this but glad to see we've sorted it for you. We recommend using it on a non slip surface so it doesn’t move while cutting.

"very pleased"

I did not expect this bread slicer to work but it dose, i fined that you have to have it's base resting up against a wall or heavy object to work well also you must have the angle just right when you place the bread in it. I also take out the sliding panel to get a thick slice of bread, with saying all that it dose do exactly what i wanted it to do. So i am very pleased with it.

"Low Tech, High Performance"

I now make all my own bread, not because I needed a new hobby, but because I like bread and making it using a machine works for me. What didn't work was the uneven, unattractive slices that I used to cut. The EvenSlice has changed all of that! I now have tasty, wholesome bread cut in even, precise slices! You can cut varying thicknesses from neat thin to doorstep. Also includes a non slip base; just remember to clean the crumbs from it to keep it that way. Really pleased!
