"Love them, but..." star star star star star_border I love these, they work perfectly (as long as you read the instructions!) and make very presentable poached eggs, so I got some for my son too. My only issue is the price, as you can get a pack of 4 at another very reputable store for less than the price of this pack of 2...
"Why have they changed?" star star_border star_border star_border star_border I bought these a couple of years ago and loved them. I got another 2 just last week and they’re really thin, flimsy silicone and tip over when you put the egg in them. Not sure why they have been changed but it’s not for the better and they are a poor imitation that cook more quickly and are more difficult to get out of the pan. The worst Lakeland product I have ever bought. support_agent A note from the team Thank you for placing your review. We're sorry to hear the pods aren't working well for you. We've not been made aware of any changes but we're checking with the supplier. You'll be able to return them back to store along with your receipt for a full refund.
"Do some reviewers read?" star star star star star Excellent in all respects. I’m no cook, but 1st two attempts = perfect poached eggs. Can’t fault them. I ‘buttered them up’ well (used tiny amount on my fingertip) added the eggs & pepper and into 1” fast boiling water, lid on 16cm pan, for 4 minutes. Flipped them out on to buttered ‘Marmite’ toast (I love savoury b’fasts) and they were firm & cooked with perfect just-runny yokes. Two added benefits: — Drop just a splash of washing up liquid into pods & re-use water after b’fast to wash; — Lots of space for extra-large eggs (special poaching pans’ cups are too small.)
"Poor solution to a simple task" star star_border star_border star_border star_border As others have noted, the eggs cook strangely. The yolks were too hard and the whites were too runny. The eggs disintegrated on removal. The pods transmit heat very slowly so I had to boil the water for three times as long as I would if I just dropped the eggs into the pan. That's a waste of time and is also an inefficient use of energy. Add in the cost of oil and you may as well just poach the normal way and save money over time. support_agent A note from the team We’re very sorry to hear this and will be in touch shortly. If you bought it from one of our stores, then you can simply return it and they will be happy to help you.
"Waste of Time & Money" star star_border star_border star_border star_border I had been begging my wife to get me these for years and so I was very excited to get them recently. However this joy didnt last long. 1st attempt- I had coated it in butter in a pan and it took nearly 10 minutes to cook. Then I struggled to get them out and ended up scraping an unpleasant mess onto my plate. 2nd attempt coated in oil as per the instructions but still took nearly 10 minutes and was not completely cooked. What an utterly rubbish and useless gimmick. This is going in the bin where it deserves to be. Get a proper poaching pan is my recommendation. support_agent A note from the team Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear these didn’t work well for you. We’d recommend greasing them with either oil or butter and then placing them in 2-3” of boiling water and to simmer gently until cooked to your liking. You can return them to any of our Lakeland stores with the receipt and our store colleagues will be happy to arrange a refund.
