Plastic Alternatives for Plastic Free Living
The raised awareness of plastic pollution in the sea and the devastation it causes to marine life has created a renewed interest in alternatives to single-use plastic and inspired people to try living plastic-free. There are simple eco-friendly swaps you can do to reduce how much disposable plastic you use in your day-to-day life and here at Lakeland we offer a range of inspiring products to help aid plastic free living.
Plastic bags can be thing of the past if you use our reusable shopping bags, trolley bags and veg packing bags, and rather than storing food in disposable food bags why not wrap it in a reusable sandwich wrap made from organic cotton infused with beeswax or carry it in a reusable food bag or washable BPA-free container. If you can't be without your daily dose of caffeine, consider a reusable takeaway coffee cup or switch to biodegradable coffee pods in your Nespresso coffee maker. Research by Mintel suggests £112m-worth of coffee pods were sold in the UK in 2015, up by a third from 2014 with sales expected to treble by 2020. That’s a lot of coffee pods, especially if they're difficult to recycle! We haven't forgotten about fans of cold drinks either, our paper or stainless steel straws are the perfect replacement for plastic straws.
