Valentine’s Heart Chocolate Bombe Melts

Combining two of baking’s biggest trends – the hot chocolate bombe and the geometric heart – all you need to add is a mug of hot milk and a spoon for a deliciously chocolatey treat. It couldn’t be easier with the help of our Geometric Heart Mould and the simple step-by-step instructions below. And with so many different ways to decorate them, we’ve got your home-made gift ideas sorted for the rest of the year!
Step 1 – create the chocolate shell

Place a heat-resistant bowl over a pan of hot water, and melt some good quality chocolate or candy melts, stirring to make sure the mixture is smooth and evenly melted.
Using a silicone pastry brush, brush an even layer of chocolate onto each of the holes in our Geometric Heart Silicone Mould, and pop into the fridge to set. Once the chocolate has hardened, carefully turn the heart halves out of the mould.
If you’d like to gift them as simple chocolates, hop along to step 3 to transform them into bunnies. If you’d like to have a go at making your own hot chocolate bunny bombes or add other fillings, carry on to step 2.
Step 2 – add their favourite fillings
You have a couple of options here. You can either fill them with the lucky recipient’s favourite sweets, making it more like a traditional Easter egg, or you can make them into a hot chocolate bombe.

To make a hot chocolate bombe, you’ll need to add a good spoonful of your favourite hot chocolate. How much you add is up to you, but we recommend Charbonnel et Walker Drinking Chocolate for a little bit of luxury.
One of the best things about chocolate bombes is when the shell melts and mini marshmallows pop to the top, so don’t forget to add them too!
To join the hearts together, carefully dip the rim of an empty chocolate half shell into a little melted chocolate, pop it on top of a filled one, then leave to set.
Step 3 – decorate

There are so many other ways you could decorate your hot chocolate bombes, using different colours and sprinkles to create delicious, bespoke home-made gifts for loved ones’ birthdays. They’d make lovely wedding favours too.
