As the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity, the Woodland Trust campaigns to protect and repair ancient woods, fight for those under threat and create new, native woodland.
They inspire people to visit woods, plant trees, treasure wildlife and enjoy the benefits that woods and trees offer the UK’s landscape and, here at Lakeland, we’re proud to support their work.
Lakeland became involved with the Woodland Trust in 2008. If a visitor to one of our stores declined a carrier bag, Lakeland gave a penny to the Woodland Trust. This reduced the number of carrier bags used, as well as helped raise funds.
Woodland Trust
With the help of our customers, Lakeland has been proud to be able to support the Woodland Trust… it’s a great cause.
We’ve helped raise £163,000 so far, and we look forward to supporting the Woodland Trust in the future.
Since the government brought in the 5p carrier bag charge, we’ve been able to contribute even more money, generated from the sales of our bags. This means we can support the Woodland Trust further, helping them to plant more trees and protect our ancient woodlands.
