Tom Kerridge
Tom Kerridge’s recipes aren’t about showing off – they’re about pleasure and generosity, sitting around a table with people you like, sharing a drink, something good to eat and a great conversation. And he doesn’t stand on ceremony but simply says, “If it tastes good, we want to eat it”. It’s this relaxed, laid-back approach that’s made us such big fans of Tom and his cookery books.
Originally from the West Country, Tom spent much of his early twenties working as a chef in restaurants across Britain, before taking over a rundown pub in the quiet Buckinghamshire town of Marlow with his wife Beth. With a strong, bold style and an emphasis on simplicity, Tom’s food soon gained industry acclaim. In fact, The Hand & Flowers went on to become the first (and still only) pub in the world to acquire two Michelin stars; it proudly boasts four AA rosettes too.
Going on to open a second pub, host various TV programmes and still find time to write his cookery books, Tom was named the Observer Food Monthly’s 2015 Best Food Personality, and we weren’t in the least bit surprised! His warm, relaxed character shines through and makes his recipes really accessible, which has made us big fans of Tom and his cookery books.
Even if you haven’t done much cooking before, I’d encourage you to get stuck in and have a go. If it’s not absolutely perfect, who cares? It’s still going to be really tasty.
Tom’s recipes
Tom loves to serve great meals to happy customers, and wants everyone to enjoy his favourite everyday recipes at home. In his third book, Tom’s Table, he shares the recipes he makes in his own kitchen, paring down the cheffy techniques used in his restaurant without paring down the taste. We’re absolutely delighted that he’s shared some of them with us here, alongside some exclusive video footage, so you can bring his big, bold flavours to your own home cooking.
