An update from Lakeland

Our wonderful team of volunteers in our Distribution Centre are now working hard to ship a small amount of new orders to our customers.

To ensure that we’re able to get these orders to customers safely, and in line with all Government guidelines and social distancing advice, this means that we currently have to limit the amount of orders we are able to accept each day.

This does mean not all of our customers will be able to access our full website and add products to their basket right now, but we hope to make our products available to more customers when we’re able to do so safely.

Our Windermere-based Customer Contact Centre is currently closed, but we do have a small team working from home. You can reach us Monday to Saturday, between 10am and 4pm. We may take a little longer than usual to get to you, so please do bear with us.

We understand that these uncertain times lead to many questions, and so we’ll be updating our page here with some further frequently asked questions in the coming days.

A short pause – An update from Catherine, our CEO

I wrote to you last week to let you know that we had taken the difficult decision to temporarily close all of our stores nationwide, from Sunday evening. As difficult as this was, we know it was the right decision to protect our colleagues and customers.

Today, we have had to make another difficult decision, and that is to pause accepting any new orders placed through our website and contact centre. This pause is necessary so we can ensure those colleagues who choose to carry on working are able to do so as safely as possible and in line with all Government guidelines.

We’re sorry that you’re unable to place an order with us for the time being, but we continue to make what we believe to be the best decisions possible on a daily basis to keep all our colleagues safe whilst providing the best service we can to our customers.

If you have already placed an order with us, it is our aim to fulfil all outstanding orders as quickly as possible, but we hope you understand why it may take us a little longer than usual. We so appreciate all the support you have given us, and whilst we’re unable to take any new orders at the moment, this is only temporary, and as soon as we are able, we look forward to serving you again.

An update from Catherine, our CEO

I am sure that you have all been closely following the latest updates on the Coronavirus situation and there’s no doubt we find ourselves in the most extraordinary of times.

It’s with a heavy heart that today, we announce the temporary closure of all of our stores, nationwide from this evening (Sunday 22nd March). As difficult as this is, we know that it’s the right decision to help protect our colleagues and customers.

Customers are still able to purchase what they need from us through our website, and we continue to despatch orders as quickly as possible. Our Buying team are working hard to replenish those products we are seeing unusually high demand for, and we are limiting certain essentials where we need to.

I can’t express enough, how immensely grateful I am to all of our colleagues for everything that they have done and continue to do. The way Lakeland has come together to overcome the challenges that are being presented is truly remarkable and I’m so proud of every single member of our team. It goes without saying that we will do everything possible to support our wonderful teams throughout these uncertain times.

As a business, we will of course continue to adapt as the situation changes, and you will find the latest updates from Lakeland here on our website.

Temporary Store Closures

Today, we have had to take the difficult decision to temporarily close several of our stores in order to ensure the safety of our colleagues and customers.From lunchtime today (20th March), this means that we will temporarily close the following store locations:

  • Wimbledon
  • Watford
  • Kingston
  • Brent Cross
  • Lakeside
  • Stratford City
  • Bromley
  • Epsom
  • Bluewater

The rest of our store locations currently remain open, and our Distribution Centre colleagues continue to despatch your orders placed online and through our Customer Contact Centre as quickly as possible.

A message from Catherine, our CEO

For over 50 years our colleagues and customers have been at the very heart of everything we do, and never has this been more true than today. For many of our colleagues and customers alike, life looks very different this week than it did even just weeks ago, but I'm so very proud of how the team have pulled out all the stops in this most difficult of times to ensure we continue to deliver our award-winning service.

 

We are, of course, following all Government advice as it is updated, and are doing everything within our power to help keep our customers and colleagues safe at all times. As of today, even with reduced or changed opening hours, our stores are open and we're ready and willing to help you should you wish to pop in – and we've made sure all our store colleagues have a plentiful supply of hand sanitisers and wipes. We're supporting any colleague who finds themselves in the position where they need to self-isolate, and in line with Government advice are putting in place the means for colleagues to work from home wherever we can. At Lakeland, as we all are, we're supporting our customers, family and friends as best as we possibly can and have made helplines available to our colleagues who have concerns and need advice.

 

We want to make sure that we're here for our customers wherever we can be, and that we continue to try to provide all that you need from us in these uncertain times. Maybe that's making home-working a little more enjoyable, or helping you to choose essentials from our catalogue and website that will help you to cook, bake, freeze and clean whilst you're at home.

 

We completely understand that for many, following these guidelines may mean that you'd prefer to shop from your own home, and we want to let you know that our wonderful colleagues in our Distribution Centre have been working tirelessly to help fulfil demand for popular products and despatch orders made through our website as quickly as possible. Our Buying team are working hard to replenish those products we are seeing unusually high demand for, and we are limiting certain essentials where we need to.

 

As a business, we will of course continue to adapt as the situation changes. Our friendly contact centre colleagues in Windermere are doing an amazing job taking your orders over the phone and by post as well as responding to your queries, and would love to hear from you. Naturally, we may take a little longer than usual to answer, so please do bear with us.
