Kilner

Kilner are an iconic kitchen brand, and Kilner jars are perhaps the most famous item they produce. The jars were originally designed with a unique pressure sealed lid consisting of a metal disc and screw band that form a seal ensuring the contents are sealed inside and stay fresh. As home preserving makes a comeback, Kilner are expanding their amazing range to include preserve jars, twist top jars and square and round clip top jars. The clip top jars are different from the original design as they use a clip top lid that forms a tight seal against a rubber ring that separates the lid from the jar.

The mason jar, reimagined

Although Kilner jars have traditionally been used for jams, chutneys and pickles, their stylish design and appeal means customers have become ever creative in their use. Now you’ll see Kilner mason jars being used for everything from layered salads to cocktail glasses or vases.

Because of this, the humble mason jar has been reinvented for all kinds of purposes, and they make fashionable and fun Kilner drinking jars. With traditional styling and an embossed Kilner logo, they look similar to traditional mason jars but feature a handle and a range of colours to add style to any event.

With starter kits, jam making pans, a range of jars and Kilner bottles plus finishing touches such as labels, our range covers everything you need for home preserving, and if that sounds like too much hard work, just kick back and relax with your Kilner drinking jar instead!

Breakfast to go

Heading to the office? Kilner jar makes the perfect containers to take you homemade breakfast and lunch into work, and the Kilner Breakfast Jar is made for the task. Featuring a lid that doubles as a 50g measure for oats, along with a stainless-steel spoon that attaches to the side, this jar is ideal for making up a yoghurt, berry and granola compote that you can take into work and kickstart your day. It’s leakproof too, so you can pop it in your bag and head off on the commute without worrying about your laptop or important notes getting damaged.

Where is Kilner made?

Kilner was established in Dewsbury in West Yorkshire in 1842 and by 1862 was already winning awards for its glass products (as it continues to do today). The iconic Kilner jar was designed and sold by the end of the 1800s and the range developed further to include quality storage items to make home preserving easy. As of 2022, Kilner jars, bottles and food storage products are made in China, retaining the same brilliant quality they’ve gained fame for over the past 180 years.

Can you heat Kilner jars?

Yes, you can! Kilner food storage items are made from a heat-resistant, durable type of glass which is safe to use in the microwave and oven. Not only are Kilner jars perfect for heating food, but the glass doesn’t stain or absorb odours, making them extremely easy to clean.
