Belgian company GreenPan is the brainchild of two school friends, Jan Helskens and Wim De Veirman, who set out to create a greener, non-toxic alternative to conventional non-stick PTFE pan coatings. After a long search the pair found a ceramic coating called Thermalon, and developed Greenpan. Fast forward ten years and GreenPan cookware is now world-renowned for its durability and eco-friendliness.
If you’re in the market for some new cookware, we’ve got the widest range of GreenPan the UK has to offer (probably). You’ll find ceramic non-stick pans for frying, casserole dishes and saucepans, as well as GreenPan sets, so you can stock up on all the planet-friendly pans you need.
Made from natural materials, the ceramic coating on GreenPan frying pans and saucepans is derived from sand, which makes it 100% PFA and PFOA free. The ceramic coating offers excellent thermal conductivity, so it's perfect for frying at low temperatures, uses less energy and is approximately 60% more durable than traditional non-stick coatings. Thermalon-coated ceramic non-stick pans are even metal utensil safe, so there’s no need to worry about scratches and scrapes when you’re cooking up a storm in the kitchen.
The green cookware kings refuse to rest on their eco-friendly laurels; as well as applying a non-toxic coating to their products, GreenPan use upcycled stainless steel and aluminium wherever possible to give their products extra eco credibility. But that’s not all: the brand constantly innovates to improve their products, such as reinforcing their Thermolon non-stick coating with diamonds for extra durability and resilience.
Hard anodised pans offer extremely efficient heat conduction and are twice as hard as steel - invest in a GreenPan set from the Venice range and these are just two of the benefits you can expect. GreenPan frying pans and saucepans in the Venice line have a Magneto base containing iron filings reinforced with copper, which helps keep the base from deforming, allows food to cook evenly and ensures the non-stick coating lasts longer. The combination of the ceramic coating and Magneto base offers maximum efficiency on induction hobs and pans are handily oven safe up to 220 C, too.
To keep your GreenPan saucepan or frying pan in tiptop condition, turn the heat down: these pans are so efficient you don't need a high heat. Use a small amount of oil or butter because low fat sprays can burn easily - you’ll find you need very little, though, thanks to the effective non-stick coating. After use, clean your GreenPan frying pan or saucepan thoroughly in warm soapy water, or, for complete convenience, put it through the dishwasher.
We’ve got one of the best selections of ceramic pans in the UK and GreenPan are right up there with the top brands for quality with eco credentials. As well as saucepans and frying pans, check out GreenPan’s griddles and casserole dishes - they’re made with the same innovative technology to the same high standards, making it easier to switch to green cookware.
