    "Weaktea Floatea!"
    Miss Reynolds

    31 January 2014

This seemed a brilliant idea and it is a neat little gadget, if expensive. Unfortunately the holes in the egg seem to be too small for the tea to infuse properly and we are having to add tea bags to the pot or mugs.

My husband loves loose leaf tea but rarely drinks a whole pot, this is just the answer as it brews a lovely cup of tea (do watch out for over filling thigh as sometimes it pops open)

    "Fabulous tea infuser"
    Christine

I take green tea in the morning with marigold tea leaves. My green tea is in a bag - the marigold is loose. I was finding my tea pot a nuisance to clean. The tea infuser is perfect for my needs. I put the bag in, add boiling water and immediately float the infuser containing the marigold leaves. When finished cleaning out the infuser is so easy. I have recently returned from holiday and was able to continue with my morning drink without bothering anyone. A fabulous product!

"Not As Great As It Sounds"

I love loose-leaf tea so this sounded like the perfect device for me. But as someone else observed, the two parts aren't secured together, which means you have to be ridiculously careful when using it, or it falls apart in the water. I've tried various methods and it happens so easily that it's barely worth bothering with at all. Although it makes a wonderful cup of tea, you'd be better off buying a diffuser teapot than a Flotea

    "Exploding tea maker"

This is what my husband and I call this device. After a few mis-haps i.e. experimenting holding the gadget down as you pour the water on top or ver y slowly submerging it in a full mug of water I am afraid. The fault is that the two parts cannot be screwed together and the force of water causes separation of the two parts, tea leaves everywhere and not fit to drink. My husband solved the problem by looping an elastic band through the handle and the base which keeps the two, parts together. I would not recommend this product.

"expensive item i would not recommend"

I initially shopped in order to purchase a tea strainer, but was attracted to this item, more pricey but quirky the box saying 'floatea is the ideal brewing tool for any tea'. I have tried it with loose leaf dandelion tea and also loose leaf mint tea and it allows too many of the bits through the holes, some of these bits are not even that small. On a positive note it does float and the handle stays cold so easy to use. I dont drink black tea so cant observe on its performance with that however i will be taking mine back and buying an old fashioned tea strainer for one fith of the price.

I love my floatea. I love loose leaf tea but can't always be bothered with all the faff when I just want a cup of tea. The floatea is perfect for that and looks really cool!
