Wilkinson Vulcan Roasting Tin with Rack
Product number: 73416
Welcome to a roasting revolution.
The raised holes in the base of this Vulcan Roasting Tin with Rack channel heat and air upwards and around your food to create a kind of 360° ‘spit roast’ effect that sears, browns and crisps all over, resulting in beautifully cooked food without the need for turning. And the wide-barred rack elevates food so that any unhealthy fat drains into the base, ready to be poured away via the corner spout. Food doesn’t sit in fat, like it does with traditional roasters, so beautifully crisp results are a given. It’s perfect for roast pork and crackling, cracking for chicken and brilliant for bacon – try it once and you’ll never use another roaster.
New roasting technology
As well as using a patented heat-flow system that ensures food is evenly cooked from every angle, a lot of thought has gone into the design and shape of this roasting tin. You might think a roasting tin with holes in the bottom is the recipe for a fat-splattered oven, but the gently curved base, wide-barred rack and strategic positioning of the ‘volcano’-shaped holes mean that fat and juices drain away in to the gully around the edge, where they can be carefully poured away using the handy corner spout or saved to use for gravy.
Please note: the base must always be used with the rack in place, as the wide rungs deflect any juices away from the ‘volcanoes’ and into the moat.
Patented heat-flow system
Sitting securely inside the base, the wide-barred rack lifts your food so that the heat and air from the oven flows up through the holes and circulates all around to create a 360° ‘spit roast’ cooking effect, cooking from above and below at the same time and sealing in all the flavour and juices – and because the bars are nice and wide, they’re perfect for laying strips of bacon, sausages and ribs on. Chunky parsnips and carrots will work too, and roast potatoes will crisp up a treat.
Versatile
Not just for meat and larger chunks of vegetables, this versatile roasting tin is also ideal for crisping oven chips.

Made from heavy-duty carbon steel and coated with a double layer of PTFE and PFOA-free non-stick, this durable roaster can go in your dishwasher for easy cleaning.

Very clever. However the curved shape of the top trivet means most meat joints and chickens will not stay in position and roll to the side. Needs a redesign or modification to prevent that happening. I.e., remove the centre bar and the obviously the holes underneath. Still clever though, just needs a tweak.
Thank you for your review. I'm pleased you find this roasting tin and rack great, however I'll be sure to pass your suggestions on to our Buyers.
Overall design is good with the fat draining off the meat, however the coating tarnishes very quickly which does not wash off. If you try using scouring pads (plastic not metal) the coating flakes off leaving bare metal which soon rusts.
Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear that the coating has tarnished and we’ve been in touch to offer a replacement or a refund.
Was looking forward to using this with my new cooker, but the fat spat everywhere, the door was covered "stressful" as its a new cooker. I loved the idea of the design and the chicken sat in place and worked how it should EXCEPT for the fat spitting, its obviously happening as its fat dripping on a very hot surface and as its shallow the fat soon gets so hot it spits everywhere. So short of hving a cover i cant use it again as i cant risk the spitting and the holes make it void for any other use. it is disappointing as I was excited. It washed ok but i have only and will only use it that once.
Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear this hasn't worked as you hoped and we've been in touch to offer a full refund.
I received this on the 11th September 2018 and have used it twice (once for chicken and the other for pork) both seemed drier than when I used my old roasting tin ( maybe its all in the mind). On cleaning it I left it in the sink in soapy water to soak and used a nylon bristle brush then left it to drain on getting ready to put it away I noticed some of the 'non-stick coating' had come off !!!!!!! Luckily I kept my old roaster (which I purchased years ago from Lakeland) and shall revert to using this again. I give this a '0 star' rating !!!!!! rating '0' if I could !!!!!!!!
Thank you for placing your review on the Vulcan Roaster 73416. We're sorry to learn you've received a faulty roaster. For tips, our product team have suggested to always clean the roaster with non abrasive cleaning brush as this will always protect the double layer non stick coasting. We'll be in touch with you shortly.
