Déglon Serrated Bread Knife 20cm Blade
Product number: 73394
A bread lover’s dream, Déglon’s 8" Serrated Bread Knife is bound to be adored by toast makers and bakers alike, as its serrated blade combines with the comfortably raised wooden handle makes for a sharp cut that slices through loaves both soft and crusty.
Perfect for crusty baguettes and softer loaves
Whether you’ve chosen to buy or bake sourdough, soda bread, a dense loaf of German rye bread, or your preference is for a fresh-baked sandwich loaf, this knife cuts smoothly through each loaf to make slice after slice. Softer loaves like milk bread won’t be crushed as you slice through, and crisp-crusted pies and quiches will have met their match – there’ll be no missing corners from a wedge cut with this scalloped blade.
Serrated blade slices without squashing
Precisely created by hand, the half-moon-shaped scalloped serrations along the edge of this knife maximise the available cutting edge and allow the sharp tips of the blade to incise their way through all sorts of loaves with ease, without squashing or slipping the way straight blades can. Invented in the 1930s by Jean Déglon and much copied, this crescent shaping also ensures that the majority of the cutting edge is kept well away from the blunting effect of your chopping board.
Stainless steel blade
Made with superb quality stainless steel (X46Cr13 to be precise), a metal that holds its sharpness well, the blade is held firmly in place in the wooden handle with two brass nails.
Beechwood handle
Ergonomically designed, the beechwood handle has been raised at a precise angle to allow you to cut through your food prep tasks in comfort and with maximum efficiency, letting the full length of the blade cut all the way through an item without ‘trapping’ your fingers under the handle. Riveted with brass for a touch of style.
About Déglon
French master cutlers Déglon trace their origins back to 1921, when Swiss national Jean Déglon moved to Thiers in France – considered to be the French equivalent of Sheffield for cutlers and knife makers – to set up a workshop. Almost a century on, the company has grown enormously but is still controlled by the Déglon family. With Jean’s grandson Thierry at the helm, Déglon use impressive technology where it can eliminate tedious tasks, but always ensure that skilled artisans are in charge of every stage of a knife’s creation, particularly in the final stages of sharpening and polishing the blade.

Best ever bread knife! Extremely sharp, well balanced and light.
This cuts through bread like its chikdsplay. I'm buying one for my son and any others I can find in this range. Regarding not being dishwasher proof, I akeayscwash my sharp knives by hand as dishwashers blunt them. So technically no sharp knivescare dishwasher proof.
Bought this knife in the sale. It is brilliant. Unfortunately it has been discontinued as I would have bought another to gift to family.
Bought the bread knife as it appeared good value with excellent ratings. However, on arrival, dismayed to read on packaging that the knife is not 'dishwasher proof' which, although having wooden handle, is most surprising in today's market. Hence only 3 stars
Really sharp knife but is quite flimsy so difficult to slice through tough crusts.
