Chef’n Bean Sprouter Vented Germinator Jar
Product number: 73370
If you’re a fan of nutrition-packed bean sprouts in your smoothies or stir fries, you’ll be thrilled to know that with a Chef’n Bean Sprouter they’re easier to grow at home than ever before – with no need for jam jars and scraps of muslin secured with elastic bands.
Sprouter has a compact footprint so it’s no bother to find space for it in your home, and most varieties of beans will be ready to eat in just five days.
Working like a miniature greenhouse, this simple-looking glass jar contains a special air vent through the centre that ensures every sprouting shoot gets enough air to help it grow cleanly, creating the ideal growing environment for shoots to thrive, and minimising the risk of mould growth. It comes with its own stand so you can rest it whichever way up suits you, and with the all-in-one growing system it’s super-easy to get the seeds started and rinse them regularly as they sprout.
How it works
Just add the seeds to the jar and fill with water to soak them for 2-12 hours (depending on the seed variety).
Flip it upside down to drain the water and then rinse the sprouting seeds twice daily until they’ve reached the perfect size for eating. Chef’n have designed the jar and the mesh lid for easy splash-free emptying and rinsing.
The adjustable screen can be easily removed if you need to tip away any seed husks after a rinsing session.
Please note: Chef’n advise keeping the Sprouter away from direct sunlight – after all, sprouting seeds would normally be underground well away from the light.
Made from glass, stainless steel and polypropylene, it’s naturally BPA free.

A great product, simple design yet very stylish. Sprouted seeds are now a regular part of my diet, generally have two different mixes of seeds on the go in separate sprouters, so kitchen access to freshly sprouted freed s year round.
I am new to sprouting & treated myself to this germinating jar Really easy no fuss way to sprout Would highly recommend
Like some others here, even though I had soaked the seeds (alfalfa, in this case) I find they go through the mesh. It's not fine enough. I also find the unit doesn't sit securely on the base when its the way up for soaking. Its wobbly. Shame.
Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear of your disappointment with the sprouter. As we think it may be faulty, we've been in touch to offer a refund or a replacement.
Having previously sprouted beans and seeds with muslin topped jam jars and then a multi-level sprouter, this product attracted me as it is easy to use, relatively compact and looks smart on out on the side in the kitchen. I feel it is quite expensive for the job it does, however it is value for money for me because I am actually using it! I'm glad I read the instructions before starting so I knew to soak the beans/seeds first rather than just rinsing and tipping, however, the sprouts do still try to grow through the gaps in the draining lid which isn't ideal.
