The Oxo Good Grips Travel Mug was purchased for a Christmas present for a friend who finds difficulty when trying to hold other mugs or flasks when in travelling or in use when he is able to partake in his favourite pastime of fishing.
I wanted a leak proof travel mug. Online and found the price varied but Lakeland was the cheapest at £9.99. Also Lakeland has the 3 year guarantee. I tested mine immediately by filling with cold water and turning upside down and shaking - absolutely no leak. Slight disappointment - at only 295ml the size is a bit smaller than my existing mug and my supermarket coffee only just fits. Also it does not fit in the holder in my car quite as well. A pity the manufacturer did not research this fully. But the leakproofability it is great and I have bought more as small gifts for friends.
Leakproof aspect is great. I can have it rolling around in my bag and it doesn't leak. It is comfortable to hold and looks smart. Only downside is it's capacity is quite small but it's great for taking a small emergency cuppa out!
Lakeland were very responsive and sent another mug after I found it had poor heat retention, but no different unfortunately. The mug is totally leak-proof yes, but lukewarm after one hour. Amazon reviewers say the same. If you are going to drink fairly quickly and require security from leakage, then great, but don't expect drinks to keep hot.
I bought this as I love OXO good grips products and have never had any problems. Until now. It is definitely leakproof but not heatproof. I don’t recommend buying this product, the worst travel mug I’ve ever bought ~ don’t waste your money.
