"Need to Change Filter "regularly"" star star star star_border star_border Odd smell after 4+ weeks. My wife and I drink a litre each per day maximum. After 4 weeks we observed a fishy smell coming from the filtered water...we have not ourselves observed the metallic taste referred to my others. What I would like please if for Lakeland to respond to this review and consult with the manufacturer to ascertain why we get the fishy smell (reported by others) and what causes it...like is is harmless etc. I am impressed with the "particle" reading...my Britax filters read 200-300 wheras this filter is <4. Looking forward to some feedback, Best regards Stuart C - 07 June 2021 support_agent A note from the team If your water tastes a bit off, it’s time to replace your filter as it has reached its exhaustion point. Slightly acidic/lemony flavour to the water is a built-in feature of the filters to alert you that the filter needs changing. You can also see when the filter needs changing by using the TDS meter included. When this reads 006, the filter needs to be changed. A fishy smell is caused by extreme filter exhaustion past its expiration, and the contaminants from your tap water within it. Each filter has the ability to absorb 18,000 microns of contaminants from your tap water. If you don’t change them, they essentially become absorbent sponges for all the waste they are clearing from the tap water. Therefore, if your tap water is badly contaminated, or you use it a lot, your filter will expire faster.
