When making home-made fermented foods such as kimchi or sauerkraut, it’s vital to keep your food completely submerged for tasty and successful results. The perfect size and shape to sit on top of your fruit or veg inside a Ball Mason jar, these clear glass Pickle Pebbles are the perfect weight and thickness to keep food completely submerged but visible during the fermenting process.

Individually made from soda glass and inspected by hand to ensure they meet the highest quality standards, they are heavier than most other glass or ceramic fermentation weights on the market – so one pickle pebble per jar is always enough – and being transparent, once inside the jar, they can hardly be seen.

"Useful"

Presented in a lovely little gift type box, so ideal present for several people I know. Easy to use and less messy than other methods. I'd like a bigger size too, please

Just bought some from the Durham store to move on from the brine filled bag method of weighing down the produce. Two of these weights (on top of a cabbage leaf lid) hold the ferment down well and leave an air gap so the problem of overflowing is gone. I use 2 litre kilner jars so the size is fine. Also the weights are well packaged so can be stored back in their original box when not in use.

Bought these to pair with Ball mason jars for fermenting. Exactly what you'd expect, they work.

Perfect weight and handy wee grips for lifting out. A slightly larger diameter to fit larger jars would be great.

This is a new improved design! It has the pinch handle and is noticeably smaller. It also fits in a kilner jar as well as Ball regular mouth jars. According to my measurements this one is 5.2 cm. In short the new one is great and makes great sauerkraut.
