"Minions Cake" star star star star star I made this cake for my grandson's second birthday party. It was an outstanding success. Very easy to follow instructions and it was a great help to have the hemisphere cake tins. He didn't want us to cut it, I think that he thought it was a real minion and planned to take it to bed. support_agent A note from the team We're pleased to hear it was such a hit for the birthday boy - sounds like he'll want you to repeat creating his birthday showpiece every year!
"An absolute winner!" star star star star star I made the "Kevin" version of this cake at the weekend and my Grandson's aged 7 and 5 were thrilled with the result. The instructions were comprehensive and easy to follow which made making the cake a pleasure. I used four of the five 6 inch Lakeland layer tins and a 6 inch hemisphere tin for the top. The sponge mixture was 225g softened butter, 225g self-raising flour, 225g caster sugar, 4 large eggs, 2 level teaspoons of baking powder. The "bottom" was made with 40g of Rice Crispies mixed with 100g white chocolate and 1 tablespoon of golden syrup. Thank you Lakeland for a great product.
"Minions Cake Frame kit" star star star star star Bought this for my granddaughters who both love minions, they really enjoyed it.
"For my minion mad nephew" star star star star star_border Made this for nephew's 7th birthday party (20+ attending). Cake looked fab but it was a lot of work. Frame is for use with a 15cm pan. Thin cake board with holes in the right places and placed on top of the frame allowed me to use larger pans. Used large hemisphere pan for top layer. If under surface of stand was rough it would give a better sticking surface for minions bottom. An angled rather than straight cut to the sides of the dungarees template would mean they meet neatly. Recommend kit - Great for small party as is. Would pay more if came with more size options to suit bigger cake).
"Minions cake" star star star star star_border The RKTs were fiddly to use and I actually placed modelling chocolate over the top to ensure that the rice krispie treats actually stayed in place . In addition I added a central support - plastic dowel to secure all the cakes in place otherwise there would have been too much movement. I used 3 6"x 2" cake tins and hemisphere pan on top. A bit fiddly at times The dungaree sides could do with being angled rather than straight cut to the sides to ensure they would meet neatly meet neatly. I would recommend kit - wonderful for a small party .I too would pay more for a larger frame.
