Have used this twice now to decorate the Gin and Tonic Layer Cake. Very pleased with the results. The recipe is a great success and turned out well on both occasions. I used the Wilton 20 cm pans and made a 4 layer cake. Had previously thought the 15cm to be a little small but may relent and buy those too. The frosting finishes the cake off well but the real piece de resistance is the jelly!
This was DELICIOUS I made the Lakeland G&T and this was award winning - sadly there wasn't enough left over for me to 'lick the spoon' hehe! Must buy product!!
This is a yummy topping for my Gin and Tonic loaf cake recipe. You can also use it on plain sponge or it goes deliciously with lemon cake. Just substitute the lemon drizzle and voila! It is a good gin and tonic flavour and doesn't leave that nasty aftertaste of some synthetic flavours. I love gin and tonic as a drink and I think this is an extremely good taste match. I have just ordered my 4th tub.
This is a most intriguing recipe. However, I would love to make it in a bigger size. It makes a dinky little cake at 15cm diameter but Im sure people would appreciate a recipe for a 22cms tin. Birthday cakes are for sharing. The jelly is more than enough for the bigger size. I know you want to promote the 5xlittle tins and the ready made frosting.... but I would prefer to make my own....What do you think? CSJ
Thanks for your comments on the gin and tonic layer cake - it is indeed made with the Wilton Easy Layer 15cm Cake Pan Set, ref 19499. You could try to double up the ingredients for a 22cm tin or the Wilton 20cm easy layer set ref 70869 can take a 6 egg mix. Or you can type 'easy layer cake recipes' into the search box to find a recipe you can adapt. You could certainly make your own frosting or be inspired by the many 'alcohol' or 'gin' products we sell at the moment - found by typing these words into the search box.
Found to be very chemical tasting and the aftertaste leaves a lot to be desired.
