Lakeland Advent Candle Chocolate Mould

A great idea for the festive season, we have created a masterpiece for the children. Extra foils for the next few Christmas times too.

I found I could get them out of the mounds only breaking one but the don't fit together snugly and the foil doesn't stay together I have had to tape it together as although it says tuck the excess underneath if you do that it won't sit on the base properly. Definite design fault

the shapes were quite easy to make once I got the hang of how much chocolate to use; the assembly quite easy except had to keep stopping to cool my hands as they were softening the shapes. however the gold foil is a disaster, just will not hold the shapes in place particularly when trying to put the candle on the base, just does not seem long enough and the pieces strip off very easily when trying to assemble everything, in the end I gave up on the gold and the grandchildren just have chocolate candles with small strip of gold.

I am rarely disappointed with Lakeland products but this one was not great. I had a few attempts and found it was difficult to get the rings to be perfectly flat which resulted in a wobbly candle (first attempt fell over and broke most of the rings). I found milk chocolate impossible to work with as it melted even with minimal handling, dark chocolate worked better but the taste/look was not really popular with the children. Gold foil was a disaster, gave up in the end and the final attempt was dark chocolate coloured (and not straight!) Ended up remelting and using the chocolate in brownies!

I am struggling to follow the instructions.I bought two boxes so I could make two at once for my grandchildren but I am not sure that I willuse the second one.I have made easter eggsand chocolatesbut this is the most difficult.I would not recommend this unless you have a great dealof experience
