Rosemary Shrager Rectangular Pie Dish

This is a beautiful pie dish. Large enough to feed a hungry family, deep enough to accommodate oodles of delicious filling and a good rim to stick the bottom crust to the top one without the filling leaking out. Perfect for my Boxing Day venison pie. Lovely dense navy blue matt finish outside, sparkling white glazed inside and heavy. I ordered it on 17th December and it arrived very securely packaged on 19th December. Excellent service. A good product well worth the money.

I bought this pie dish to accommodate a meal for 6+ people. It is attractive but also quite heavy and takes up more room in the cupboard than I had anticipated. I have twice attempted to cook chicken pie in it using a puff pastry lid and despite using two pie funnels, on both occasions the pastry sank into the filling before puffing up and the outside edges burned whilst waiting for the centre to cook. The dish is just too long to expect the pastry to span without sagging and quite frankly, the dish is of little use to me otherwise, as it is not deep enough for use as say, a lasagne dish.
