Zyliss Hand-Held Spiralizer

Bought this today in York after debating in store whether to get a bigger model. Hubby not keen on vegetti so decided on this smaller version as I will be the one using it for relatively small amounts .Practiced a bit to get the blades right and the direction of turn. ( initially got it wrong but worked it out) Admittedly you do have to have a reasonable grip to hold the two parts close but I found it very easy to use on a courgette and got ribbons and spirals with ease and quickly produced enough for a good portion to stir fry for my supper!! Very pleased, ***** for this product

I bought this as it was neat and compact, we looked at it in the shop and the assistant kindly unpacked one for me. However, I have found it very difficult to use as I have muscle weakness and osteoarthritis (too young!) I can only manage a few turns with a courgette and not much with a carrot... You need a good grip, OK if you have strong hands but it is more or less useless for me to use. I purchased it as it was neat and compact as I don't have much storage space left in my kitchen .......

I liked the idea of this small, simple spiralizer for creating appealing-looking and healthy salads. So far I have only used it to spiralize one half carrot. It was very hard work, the machine did not grip the carrot securely, and already the plastic has been stained orange. All in all, rather disappointing.

Good value. However, even though I have reasonably strong hands, I found this tiring to use:- gripping tightly with one hand whilst turning with the other. (If you don't grip, the screw thread which drives the veg onto the blade wont work.) Also, the vegetables have to be the right diameter - quite big - or it wont make spirals, just discs. Carrots as big as the spiralizer are not that easy to find!

Firstly, you need the strength of an iron man to operate this product, particularly with a hard vegetable such as a carrot. The grip and turn technique required to operate it is very difficult to orchestrate and progress is slow and laborious. Secondly, the item is not dishwasher proof as stated. I put mine in the dishwasher after the first use and the food pusher, although appearing to be sealed, has filled up with dishwasher water which won't come out. All in all, not a good design, not up to Lakeland standard and not up to the job.
