"Stick to the old fashioned technique"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

Got this item with my mum, we have one each. Both of us have found this item to be a waste of time and will stick to the old fashioned method. The eggs either come out not cooked enough or hard. Thought this would be a great idea for a quick breakfast for my son before school but never get the desired effect, he likes a soft yolk. Wouldn’t recommend

We're sorry this proved unsuitable.

"Not worth it"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

I have an 800watt microwave, which is pretty standard. I followed all the instructions in respect of timings, etc. I was left with a raw/uncooked egg. I cannot see how "turning the egg with a spoon" adds anything at all, except for ending up with a broken yoke. I have bought Lakeland products for 20 years and this is the first one I have been disappointed with. This is not worth the money and the old style "flat model" was far superior. I note that no mention of the wattage of a microwave was mentioned in the instructions. This is vital. Was this product actually tested.

Thank you for placing your review. We're sorry to hear of your disappointment with the egg poachers. We've checked and can confirm that the timings are based on a 900 watt microwave which means you would need to experiment with how long it is in for to get it perfect. We can see you've been fully refunded for this and we hope you'll find an alternative product soon.

"total waste of eggs!"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

tried 4 times now, does not cook the egg after 30 seconds.....doesn't after 60 seconds, infact total waste of time, needs removing from the shelf

support_agent A note from the team

We're sorry you couldn't get this to work. The timings are based on a 900 watt microwave. You could perhaps try cooking for longer.

"Did not work"

star star_border star_border star_border star_border

Bought these poaches and the following morning I was looking forward to a nice and easy poached egg. I knew it was trial and error, but after cooking half a dozen eggs at different timings not one of them came out runny. Returned them the next day, yes I got a refund, but was 6 eggs down.

support_agent A note from the team

Thank you for placing your review. I'm sorry this egg poacher didn't work well for you. You may find our silicone egg poaching pods product reference 12116 a suitable alternative.

"Perfect, but you must experiment a little first"

The instructions seem a bit convaluted at first but all microwaves are different and egg sizes are different too. Having previously owned one of the flat double microwave poachers I was aware it might take a few go’s to get it exactly right. A couple of ok eggs, one bad result and now plenty of great eggs. I found upping the initial time from 15 seconds to 20 has given us the best results. Not rubbery at all. Once you know your timings you have quick eggs in a minute, no pan boiling, easy clean up, wonderful for kids as there’s no shell to mess with. perfect!
