"Poor design - rice falls through slots" star star star_border star_border star_border The inner basket of this product has slots, rather than holes. This allows for the raw rice to fall through when it is being rinsed. Once the rice is cooked, some of it sticks firmly in the slots, making it difficult to clean. The rice I use is Basmati, so nothing unusual about the grain size. support_agent A note from the team Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear this is happening. Broken rice grains may fall through, however any rice that does fall through still cooks. We’d recommend soaking the steamer afterwards in hot soapy water. We’ve been in touch to help further.
"Microwave Cookware Stain Proof - Red Multi Steamer 2.1L" star star star star star I love this product . I use this and the smaller one to cook my vegetables on a daily basis . So quick and easy to use and it also frees up space on my hob .

"Prefer my old one!" star star star star star_border My previous Lakeland microwave steamer has died of old age. Unfortunately, I'm finding the new, improved version not quite as good. Whilst the new shape and better handles are a good move, the main insert has a problem - the slits in the base are just a little too wide, enabling a significant amount of uncooked rice to fall through and also trapping cooked rice, making it harder to clean than the old version. Having said that, it still produces beautifully cooked rice and I wouldn't be without it.
