"Not totally sugar free" star star_border star_border star_border star_border I bought this book, thinking it would help me feed my husband who was diagnosed with type 2'diabetes. But she puts in soo much maple syrup in some recipes. I have gradually reduced the amount of syrup in some recipes. But it's not the same. Very disappointed. Never mind I will keep looking. support_agent A note from the team Thank you for placing your review and for taking the time to speak to me today. "Doris" star star star star star I bought this book three weeks ago me and my husband have enjoyed every thing I have made the tea loaf was lovely and flap jacks where good because they are not so sweet which he has been having in his lunch box instead of chocolate bar and beef stir fry is gorgeous so will be making again so I am glad I purchased this book .
"No carbohydrate Information - Disappointed" star star star_border star_border star_border I bought this book alongside Davina's Smart carbs book which has full nutritional information. The 5 Weeks to sugar free has only calories but no carbohydrate information. I found the recipes interesting but as a Type 1 Diabetic who matches insulin intake to carbohydrates I cannot use these receipes as I have no idea of the carbohydrate content without looking up all the ingredients and calculating it myself. Very disappointed with it. These comments should be passed onto the Publishers. support_agent A note from the team Thanks for placing your review. We're sorry this book isn't suitable for you. "Bitterly disappointed" star star_border star_border star_border star_border I am a diabetic pensioner I suffer from high B.P.so it is important for me to avoid sugar. I was thrilled to see this book,& so upset and disappointed to receive it. It isn't sugar free as expected, but laden with lots of Maple syrup and honey, most recipe containing both ingredients at the same time. I would never consume a dish from this book. What a waste, & mostly what a great let down for me, so looking forward to once again cooking and eating dishes that I love. If you are diabetic, please don't be caught out. It isn't sugar free, just refined sugar free. support_agent A note from the team Thank you for placing your review. We're sorry this book isn't suitable for you. You are correct the book is a guide to kicking refined sugars and replacing with an alternative. We do advise this in the description. We'll be in touch shortly to put things right for you.
"Love this book!" star star star star star I am a big fan of Davina as I have all of her fitness DVDs (which are great by the way) so when I learnt about the sugar free book I was very interested indeed especially as Davina is a great role model when it comes to healthy living and fitness! I am not diabetic so the book works for me! I know what foods are bad for us re sugar content etc so I don't need to be educated here but what scares me are the foods with 'hidden sugars' in like sauces for one. Overall in my opinion this is a very good book to try. Davina promotes healthy good living so I'm definitely camp Davina all of the way! X
