Butter Mill - Grates Colds Butter For Easy Spreading

Product number: 70883

We’ve all shredded bread or toast by trying to spread too-cold butter on it, but this clever Butter Mill Grater helps put an end to that problem by making butter more spreadable straight from the fridge.

Simply twist to push tiny butter ‘worms’ through the holes in the top, scoop off with a knife and spread. When you’re done, pop the cap on and replace it in the fridge, ready for the next slice.

"Amazing, can't believe no one thought of it sooner"

Great product, easy to use, grates the butter easily making spreading on delicate bread so much easier. It takes 1/2 a 250g butter pack, however it also takes a block from a 500g block, which I buy, you just cut it to fit. Also dishwasher safe and has a 5 year warranty too.

"Genius invention"

I strongly disagree with the one star reviews - this product is one the best gadgets I've bought for my kitchen. It is definitely an improvement on carving out cold chunks of butter from the block, and the butter spreads like a dream on toast, even when it's straight out of the fridge. I admit I did struggle at first to grip onto it as I twisted out the 'worms' but I soon developed a method and now it's fine.

"Works for me 5 Star"

Bought this from Handforth Store as I do with most of my Lakeland Purchases. Works fine for me turn the top a few times and very fine minced butter hangs down to be scraped off with your butter knife onto whatever it is you want to butter. Works fine with butter straight from the fridge. If anything it could possibly be improved on the gearing of the design, so that not as many turns are needed to get the required amount of butter onto your Crumpets, potatoe cakes, scones etc. I have found that I am not using as much butter as I used to. 5 star from me no complaints.

"orville bird"

Worked well on toast and bread until weather got cold. Even when not kept in fridge still tears soft bread up. First time I have ever had anything negative to say about a product & I have been a loyal customer for 20 plus years

"Idea is excellent, but needs to be sturdier!"

When I saw this, I immediately thought of an excellent use; Delia has a very good recipe for Eccles cakes where very cold butter is grated into flour and lightly mixed in with a spatula to form a flaky pastry. I have in the past done this manually on a grater, so thought this gadget a good idea. However it is just not up to the job and would be if only of stronger construction - as it is safer on the fingers than a standard grater ... but it just needs to be sturdier. If it were, I am sure it could be applied to other tasks.
