Sage have hit the ‘perfection is possible' mark again. Grilling everything from steaks to paninis to pancakes, their Smart Grill Pro is packed with features to ensure the perfect, professional finish. Five dedicated settings for beef, lamb, pork, poultry and fish let you choose your favourite temperature from rare to well done, and an integrated probe senses the precise heat and indicates when it’s time to take it off to rest – preventing overcooking and ensuring your meat is done exactly the way you like it. There’s also an electronic thermostat that senses heat loss and boosts power to the elements to maintain temperature, so your steaks are sure to be seared, not stewed.

And it’s not just the temperature you can control. There’s a sliding mechanism on the side of the grill that allows you to set the top plate to six different heights, so you can grill delicate foods without squashing them, and the floating hinge automatically adjusts to maintain even pressure across whatever you’re grilling, putting an end to food that’s burned at one end and barely cooked at the other. You can also adjust the angle of the base so any excess fat drains away into the drip tray, and there’s an easy to read LCD screen so you can check the temperature and cooking time while you’re grilling.

If you want to grill up a meat feast or cooked breakfast, the ‘barbecue’ mode lets you fold both plates flat, doubling the cooking area, so you can fry eggs or pancakes on the flat plate and meat and veg on the ribbed one.

The grill plates are made from cast aluminium with a titanium-infused non-stick coating for superior scratch resistance and oil free cooking. And they’re easy to clean, too – when you’ve finished grilling, just press the plate release button to easily remove both plates and pop them in the dishwasher.
